I felt my body slightly float in the water, my hair swaying freely with the never-ending soothing waves of the deep blue water. Buboo continued to lay on my head just behind my new crown as I sat sandwiched between Nexee and Elian. We sat as a trio on the cliff under the sea, overseeing the quick-moving and lively kingdom that we had successfully gotten out of. My hands lay on my lap as my legs crossed together, taking in the silent underwater waves and the soothing pale lights that the large jellyfish of the city created.
"You really enjoy this view, don't you, Marina?" I opened my eyes slowly and turned to face the handsome smiling face of Elian. I smiled back at him and turned back at the painting-worthy view.
I moved my hands back and leaned on them as I decided to hang my legs over the cliff like he and Nexee, "Yeah, something about this moment: this view, this sound, this feeling. It's just so perfect. Like a dream." Nexee sighed happily and leaned back on her hands as well.
"I get what you mean. I always loved the view as a little guppie, escaping my cot whenever I could to just leave the city and sit here with Elian." She had a satisfied look on her face, her body relaxed and calm. I turned to Elian as he changed his position to pulling his knees to his chest and resting his hands around them, his hand resting on his arm.
"You guys knew each other when you were younger- or, erm, guppies?" It felt weird calling them that but I didn't want to seem as if I was disrespecting them or anything. I don't need to learn about their punishments and torture traditions here just yet. I ain't trying to die today or any time soon for that matter.
Elian turned his head towards me, his fluff of honey hair turning to me as his bright eyes glowed with the faint lights from the city, "Yeah, she was the daughter of my tsunasia. We snuck out of my home quite frequently." I felt myself nodding as if I knew what the hell a tsunasina, or whatever he said, was. I frown at my lack of communication and realize that I could learn about them. I have a chance not many have and I am not taking advantage of it. Or would it be rude if I asked questions? Fuck it all. I'm already here and they brought me here to learn so might as well.
I turned to Nexee as she was happily swaying her legs over the edge, "What's a tsuchiyna?" My voice made her snap from her happy daydream and she looked at me in confusion and slight shock, however, Elian was the one that spoke. Yet, it wasn't the fact that he spoke first that got my attention and made me pause, it was the fact that he had put his handsome and smooth-ass hands on my shoulder to get my attention. I immediately turned and stared at his arm on my shoulder as it became stiff, my eyes moving to his as he looked at me with confusion.
"You don't have tsunasias in the land? Who takes care of the young when the birth givers need their own time? Or when they have to work?" Elian continued listing things that parents would do when they wanted a break from their kids. It took me a moment but then I quickly realized what the 'land' version of a tsunasia was.
My mouth opened as a long 'oh' escaped my lips, "You mean, like a nanny?" I looked at both Nexee and Elian who looked extremely confused yet, dare I say, curious about what a nanny was. I quickly moved to explain with some added hands gestures for fun, "A nanny takes care of the babies, or guppies as you say, when the parents," I looked at them quickly, "the birth givers for you guys, want to have their own free time."
