Selena's POV (15 minutes earlier)
Jack held his hand out for me, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to accept his help.
"Oh, come on, we'll drive you home."
Finally, I grabbed his hand, I was doing this for my poor feet. I got on the bike and hurriedly put my arms around his waist because we were driving 180 km/h. I told him the way, with a bad feeling in my gut.
>What if he just drives somewhere and locks us in a basement? < But he did take the way I told him. "Turn right now."
Jack slowed down a bit and put one of his hands on top of mine. I thought it was awkward but he was probably worried about me falling off the bike.
He stopped in front of my house. My sister came running out to talk my ear off. She was a bit overprotective from time to time. Jack winked at me and put the helmet back on. I didn't know why, but his smile didn't seem as innocent as it should have. Together with my sister and Maya, I walked into the house, where I got rid of the shoes.
Selena's POV (two weeks later)
We got to know the reason why Kevin wasn't home on my second day of school. He had a fit, the medics said something about sudden paralysis and organ failure.
Maya couldn't believe it and I spent a whole week consoling her.
The police were constantly looking for murder clues since such symptoms didn't occur without reason.
In fact, they found a strong plant poison in the bag of Mitch, one of Kevin's 'friends'. Of course, he denied everything, but the circumstances were against him. Jack and Ryan began to act weird and were constantly around me, like shadows.
It didn't matter where Maya and I tried to hide, we had no possibility to escape from the two. We felt watched even in the bathroom for girls.
Our homeroom teacher had to make an important announcement today:
"My dear students, I'm glad to tell you that the whole class and two other students were chosen to participate in the contest 'Use of theory in extreme situations'. You're going to be spending two days alone in the woods in small groups of four people. You can choose your partners yourself. Write your names on this piece of paper, please."
He put a sheet on one of the desks. The sheet got around the classroom in ways that made absolutely no sense, getting to Maya and me last.

Cerise, Reyna, Leo, Nico
Ryan was going too?!

"We're not gonna be in a group!" Maya took the sheet from me and looked at it closer. I looked at her with my best puppy dog eyes and asked:
"Can you go with the crazy people?" She shook her head wildly and took a pen.
"Not gonna happen! I'm going with the girls."
She wrote down her name and I had no other choice than to enrol myself into a basic course for the ride to hell.
"You owe me one!"
"Sure, Selena."
Maya took the paper and brought it to the front.
"Oh, that was quick! Don't forget, this will start in a few weeks!"
Jack had turned around to me and it seemed, that he planned the whole thing.
(some hours later) (Please read with Spongebob voice!)
I just got home when Alex opened the door.
"Hey, how was school?"
"Hell's fine. We're participating in some school event in a couple of weeks. And guess whose group I'm in! (please note the sarcasm)" Alex crossed her arms.
"With the Johnsons?" I simply nodded. I was excited about the trip but at the same time, I was worried about being alone with Jack and Ryan.
"Selena, you are NOT participating, do you understand? Those two are creepy and I don't want anything happening to you! I mean, I've seen them sneaking around the house."
"What?!" I screamed at my sister. She couldn't forbid me to go simply because she didn't like my group!
"Selena, I'm your sister, 'I'm the one caring for and I am the one who tells you what you can do! I'm in the kitchen if you need me." Alex turned on her heel and I ran up into my room. Hastily I pulled out my phone and called Maya. "Hey, Sel!"
I threw myself on the bed and held the phone to my ear. "Alex wants to forbid me from participating in the camping project thing!" "Just because of Jack and Ryan? That's just unfair!" I rolled over onto my belly.
"She doesn't even listen to me! I know the two are creepy and all but I don't think they could hurt me." "Yeah! You even know judo!" We talked a bit longer about how we could work something out with Alex but we always came to the same conclusion: It was impossible.
With a heavy heart, I ended the call and laid on the bed. "Sel?" Alex opened the door to my room. "I didn't want to hurt you, I'm just worried about you, you know that. But seriously, with those two? Maybe I can call the principal and ask for you to be put in another group?" I nodded and let her hug me.
