Selena's POV (around midnight)

I woke up in the middle of the night with my eyes wide open. I forgot Maya! We wanted to meet at the treehouse and I didn't want to disappoint her. I carefully turned around and notice an arm laying on me. Jack probably stretched in his sleep. I carefully lifted his hand and got out of the sleeping bag. Ryan was sleeping too, so nobody would notice my absence.

I hastily pulled on a hoodie that was laying around and began to run. The treehouse wasn't that far from here but the darkness made me lose my orientation for a bit. I kept going when something rustled behind me. It probably was some animal, but I fastened my steps to a small jog. I could already see the treehouse with the lights on.
Maya was already there.

A sudden rustling in the treetops made me stop to look up. There was nothing there. I almost had a heart attack when I looked forwards again. There, in the darkness, were Ryan's red eyes.
>Oh, great...< I began running again and turned right.

I was fleeing through the underbrush, Ryan chasing me.

I was smaller and more agile but he had more training. I heard the rushing of the river and turned in another direction out of fear that Jack could be waiting there.
Those two...
My heart was pounding and Ryan's exes seemed like headlights to me. The blood was rushing through my body and my legs ran even faster. I completely lost my orientation but there was no time to get it back.
I couldn't feel my legs anymore I probably ran against rocks or through a field of stinging nettles. But I was running away and could care about that later.

It got dark all of a sudden.

Had I lost Ryan and his headlights? My feet kept running anyway. Someone suddenly picked me up. I struggled but the person wouldn't let go.
>Whoever you are, you are getting your ass kicked! <
"I just wanted to ask for my hoodie, Sel. It's cold." That was Jack, definitively.

I stopped struggling and he put me down. I wanted to pull off the hoodie when jack stopped my hands. "It's okay, you're gonna get cold." I got frightened again when I felt cold breath on my neck.

"Ryan, could you stop scaring her, it's not even funny anymore !" Jack scolded and hugged me.

I didn't care as long as his brother was away from me.
"Sorry Sel. The next time you go to the toilet take a torch with you. You got completely lost!" he said and motioned us to go. I freed myself from Jack's hug and followed Ryan because I didn't know where we were. At least they didn't notice what I really planned to do...

Jack's POV (half an hour earlier)

I was awoken in the middle of the night. Selena was moving underneath my arm and it seemed like she wanted to get up. She lifted my arm carefully and slipped out of the sleeping bag. >Don't go, princess< I thought and slowly opened my eyes. Selena seemed agitated and grabbed my pullover, since she couldn't find hers. She could have taken Ryan's but she liked mine (and thus, me) better. The angel hastily opened the zipper of the tent to get out in the open.

Fuck, I daydreamed too long! I should've stopped her! If she ran away...
"Ryan, get up!" I said to my brother and got out of my sleeping bag. He turned around and opened his eyes. When I was younger it scared me when he sneaked through the house at night but I was used to his red eyes now.
"What is it, you little pest?" he asked and stretched.
"Selena ran away." He snapped his head my way at such a speed that I wondered how he didn't break it.
"She WHAT?" he asked, non-believing.
"She's gone."

I got out of the tent and looked around.
"I'm gonna run through the woods, you look near the river. At least you won't fuck that up. Incompetent bastard! If she's gone I'll rip your head off. And we still have to talk about the thing with Pete." Ryan said and began running. As if he had never killed anyone in his rage! Even so, I still walked near the river.
