(A/N: Sorry, this one is shorter. I'll try to make chapter five long to make up for it, but here you guys go!)
"What's happening?" Dani screams over loud rumbling noises. Michael puts out the fire and grabs his weapon.
"It's an avalanche!" he shouts, pointing to the mountains close by. "We need to go, now!" Michael grabbed hold of Dani's hand and pulled her along, the ground shaking beneath them. Running in snow is never easy. Especially when you're carrying weapons and supplies, and are running from a tumbling avalanche headed straight toward you.
"Michael, I can't run as fast as you!" Dani cried. He was literally dragging her along.
"Then you better hold on tight," he yelled, putting her on his back and running as fast as he could. Since Michael had to carry things as well, it was impossible for him to hold onto Dani, so she was clinging to him for her life. After a lot of running, luckily, they were able to make it out of the winter alive. They didn't get to summer, like they wanted, but they made it to spring. Where they ended up, was near the water fall that Niall and Annie had found. "Are you alright?" Michael huffed, catching his breath.
"I should be asking you that," she said. "Come over here, this is fresh water." Making their way to the stream, they both get a drink from the water, cooling off. Dani, looking up at the waterfall, stared at it for a minute or too. "Michael," she whispered. "I think we can hide behind this waterfall! It'd be perfect. We have the water, and we'd be able to defend ourselves. There's a cove behind it; all we have to do is get into the stream." Michael looked as well, smiling and laughing.
"You're right. Maybe it was better that we ended up here," he smiled at her. "Let's go." Making way to their new hideout, the two settled in, resting for the time being. "We need to rest up. We can probably expect something else like that avalanche wherever we go."
"They really want to see us suffer in here," Dani sighed.
"Well, this is the Capital, we're talking about. But, there's not much they can do while we're in here. Only the game makers." Michael looks to the ceiling of the cove. "You hear that Capital? Screw you guys!" Dani swats Michael on the arm, clamping a hand over her mouth to stop herself from laughing.
"Shh, someone's gonna hear you," she warns.
"Ah, let them here me. I'll stick this axe into their skull when they come looking for me." Dani laughs, tipping her head back. They definitely could defend themselves here. Plus, people would need to get water eventually.
Back in the summer section, Angelica was checking the traps that Ashton had set while Ashton was up in a tree, scoping out the terrain. Hearing movement in the bushes, he signaled Angelica to hide, and began to slide down the tree, stealthily. Out of the bushes came the small, fragile girl from District Three. The poor girl didn't have a chance before Ashton pounced on her, snapping her neck as he had her partner's. "Sweet dreams," he whispered to her, standing and unloading the traps that Angelica hadn't got to. "You can come out," he tells her.
Angelica emerges from the bushes, fixing her hair. "You know, I'm not as useless as you think I am. I could have killed her." Ashton laughs.
"Yeah right. You would have scared her, and she either would have injured you or run away." Angelica's jaw drops.
"How rude! You don't think I could win this, do you?" Ashton couldn't help himself, and burst into laughter.
"Frankly I'm surprised you've made it this far, and that's only because I'm keeping you alive." She glared at Ashton, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Well why are you then? Why are you helping me?" Ashton shrugs.
"I don't know, actually. You're rather annoying to keep around, but I guess I just haven't thought of a good reason to drop you, or kill you myself."
"Well! Maybe I'll just leave!" she threatens.
"Be my guest," Ashton smirks, bagging the few small animals that they've caught. Instead of leaving, she huffs, climbing back up the tree. Ashton made a fire to cook the prey. Angelica doesn't come down when it's done, and Ashton doesn't try to force her. If she's being stubborn, then what's the point?
Through the meadows of the spring, District Eight tribute Jake runs from a group of other tributes, he can't see them at the time. He has no idea where he's going, so, when he ends up smack in the middle of the careers! His eyes widen in fear, wanting to run but he can't move. "I'll handle this," Carlos immediately spoke up, walking toward him. Jake would have been prepared to fight the careers, had he known he would have been fighting the careers. Since he didn't, well, the situation was a lot different.
"I'm sorry, I'll go, just, please don't kill me," he asks. Jake realizes that he sounds probably pathetic, but there isn't much else he can do or say.
"I'm not going to kill you," Carlos tells him. "I was going to offer you a spot in our alliance." Jake is completely thrown off, yet relived.
"Really? Wh-why?" Carlos shrugs.
"We think you could be a good addition."
"We..." Savannah scoffs.
"What do you say?" he asks. Jake nods.
"Yeah, definitely."
"Great," Carlos smirks. "Welcome aboard."
"First things first," Niall starts. "Can you tell us what these are?" he holds up one of the bombs that District Seven created, showing Jake. He looks back and forth between the bomb and Niall, not knowing what exactly it was. But he had a feeling they would soon find out.
