"So what exactly is the plan for today?" Luke asks.

"Well," Karalyn sighed, heaving herself out of the fox hole. "Today, we're gonna find eleven. They have to be out here somewhere, so we may as well start looking." Just then, a noise is heard in the bushes. Everyone turns instinctively, Luke whipping out what looks like a sling shot.

"False alarm; just an animal," he clears.

"Where'd you get that?" Rhett asks.

"More importantly, why?" Karalyn asks as well.

"It's useful," Luke defends his weapon choice. "Ever heard of David and Goliath?" Calum steps forward to back up his partner.

"Trust him, I've seen what it can do." Once they pack what they need, leaving the rest in the fox hole, they prepared to set out to find District Eleven.

"We're gonna need either a bigger fox hole, or a new hideout, if we find them. It was cramped enough with just us," Rhett complains. Soon, they come to an opening in the area.

"On your guard," Karalyn warns, pulling her knife out.

"Looks like whoever was here, they're gone now," Calum said, sighing. There was an empty pouch left behind.

"Great. Our lead is lost. Let's move out."

Back at the careers hideout, they are still trying to figure out the small device that they had acquired. "Well?" Niall asked again.

"I- I don't know, for sure. But I know who will. I saw these at training; District Seven has made them. If you find them, you get your answer."

"And what if we don't?" Annie argued. "What happens th-" before she could finish, as she started to step toward him, she lost her balance.

"Annie, what's wrong?" Niall asked her.

"No- nothing, I'm fine!" Savannah approached the girl, ripping the fabric surrounding her wound back.

"Your leg is infected. And if it's not yet, it will be."

"Then we'll help her!" Niall defends.

"Not likely. We can't do much for her," she snidely remarks.

"We will help her," Niall insists. Just then, a silver parachute comes raining down from the sky near by. Niall ran to retrieve it, cracking it open. It was a needle, with medicine, for Annie. He smiled, pulling the needle out. "Carlos, Jake, hold her still," he told them. They held her as he asked, Annie squirming.

"Niall, what's going on? Make them let go of me!" Niall knelt beside her a moment, looking at her with apologetic eyes.

"Sorry Annie, this is gonna hurt." Without warning, he jabbed the needle into her leg above the cut, Annie let out a muffled scream. Niall had clamped his hand over her mouth to block the noise. Tears fell from her eyes, in pain, as he pushed the fluid from the needle into her, and gently yanked it out. "You'll be weak for a short bit until that kicks in, but you'll be better."

"No. You're going on a hunt today, and I refuse to be left behind," she insists, gritting her teeth. "I will be there, next to you."

"I don't think that's..."

"You can't leave me here! I'm coming."

"We'll find a way," Carlos shut them up. "We'll wait it out, if we have to."

"We can't wait forever," Savannah had to remind them.

In the meantime, District Eleven had been scurrying about. "We can't keep doing this," Brandon said. "Running and hiding. We have to get out and take a chance!" Kendahl didn't agree.

"That's how you get yourself killed. Please, just stay with me." Brandon shook his head.

"I'm sorry, but if the Capital wants a show, I'll give them one. I'm going after the careers."

"Brandon! Wait, please," she begged him. "Give me a few hours, and then I'll go with you." After thinking about it, he agreed, somewhat reluctantly. However, while Kendahl was gone hunting for berries, Brandon was caught off guard by a sneak attack from District One, and the remainder of Eight. He was dead within seconds. Kendahl, who had seen the invasion from a bush as it were too late, took off. She knew the careers would be tracking her, and the only chance she had was to run.

As the rest of the careers waited for Annie's leg to better itself, and Districts One and Eight went after Eleven, Districts Seven and Five continue on. They had soon enough ventured into the summer section of the games. It was much hotter there than autumn. They stuck close together, and watched each other's backs. "So, how do we know where to find this girl?" Calum asked.

"She'll make herself known," Rhett assured them. Just then, when Rhett's back was turned for half a second, he was rammed into by someone, or something. Opening his eyes, it was the girl from Eleven that they were tracking. She wanted to scream, but she knew that it wouldn't be wise. "No, it's okay! We've been looking for you!" Rhett explains. "We want you to join our alliance!" Kendahl was speechless, still.

"The careers are coming for me," she warns them.

"Then we'll stop them. Which way?" Karalyn asked. Kendahl points, and Rhett chucks one of his bombs that way.

"Let's make a run for it!" he tells them. That bomb will blow any second. As the five of them ran away, the careers had no idea what they were running into.

When the bomb exploded, it caught Ashton off guard. In the far distance, he could have sworn that he saw the careers. Ashton dropped from the tree, and his suspicions were confirmed. "What's going on?" Angelica asked.

"The careers; they're coming." Angelica gasped.

"What are we going to do now?" she asked, thoroughly scared.

"I don't know... but if I don't see you again.." Ashton starts. Before either of them could say anything else, Ashton rammed his lips against the girls, kissing her until he heard the short cutoff of her breath, pulling away, leaving the dagger that he plunged into her stomach clutched in her hands. "Sorry love, but you would only slow me down," he whispers, leaving her for dead. He grabbed their stuff and took off in the opposite direction of the explosion. Whether the careers got caught in it or not, they would be sure to check it out.

What Ashton hadn't seen, was that when the bomb went off, it sent the careers flying back through the air at least fifty feet. "What the hell!" Carlos yelled, grabbing his head in agony. Jake coughed, gasping for breath.

"It's a bomb," he chocked out. "What Niall showed me; they're bombs." Savannah tried to stand, but was too shaken up. Soon the other careers had joined them to see what had happened. Yes, even Annie.

"What the hell happened?" Brad asked.

"District Seven think they're funny bastards, that's what happened," Savannah growls. "We're camping here for the night, and hunting first thing in the morning." No one argues, but luckily, the others had packed up to go, and what they didn't pack, District Two offered to retrieve.

"We're going after them next then?" Jake asked. Carlos nodded.

"The Capital wants a bloodbath, so why not give them one?" he shrugged. "It's about time we've seen some action in these games." The war between the career alliance and Districts Seven, Five, and Eleven was officially on. And this time, the careers didn't have the advantage, and would be one step behind.
