Observation 3
Peter Parker is either extremely defensive or just plain insane.↯
The weekend had felt never-ending, and Nellie had blisters on her feet from spending all her Saturday and Sunday running around the streets of the Big Apple on an unsuccessful scavenger hunt for the red-suited vigilante.
More YouTube videos had surfaced of the masked man over the weekend, but none were either very clear or lengthy. So, Nellie trudged up the front steps to the school feeling defeated.
Once she had taken her usual seat in the back of Psych class first period, she noticed Peter already sitting down in front of her, his forehead pressed against his desk.
She leaned forward an inch, the sound of soft snoring escaping his lips. He looked exhausted; his eyes had dark rings around them and a puddle of drool had formed on the desk around him.
Somehow, Nellie still found him to be incredibly cute.
"Pe-eeeeee-ter Par-rrrrrr-ker! If you wanted to sleep you should've taken Politics this semester! Get your head up and get to work." Mrs. Turner entered the classroom, her glasses nearly falling off the bridge of her nose.
Nellie stifled back a chuckle as Peter shot straight up out of his seat and had a paper and pen out within just seconds, "Wh-what did I miss?"
"Nothing," Nellie rolled her light green eyes, "She hasn't even called the roll out yet."
Peter let out a sigh of sweet relief, twisting around in his desk to face Nellie.
"Good morning, Nellie Jenkins."
Her breath caught in her throat. What was he doing and why was he saying her full name like that? They barely even spoke to one another up until last week, which included the brief exchange in the cafeteria, thanks to Ned, and then again in the hallway outside of the principal's office. This was unnatural, and unnerving for her.
Does he know about the article?
"Uh—" she tried her best not to stutter under the pressure, "Hey, Parker."
Peter gave her a tight-closed smile before turning back around in his seat.
"Abbington," Mrs. Turner began dryly reading through the student's names on her absentee list. Luckily, this process always caused class to be ten minutes shorter than it was supposed to be.
Nellie stared at the back of Peter's head for a moment, many questions racking her brain.
She had only a few months to somehow learn everything interesting there was to know about Peter Parker, yet she hadn't even written more than three sentences so far. She was in deep trouble.
