Kara and Alice had already been placed into separate interrogation rooms by the time Hank and Connor arrived on scene. Hank decided to attempt questioning Alice first, as her father, Todd, had been the homicide victim. That left Connor to go interrogate Kara. This was one of his first Deviant cases, so he was fairly inexperienced in dealing with them. Him and Hank went to their respective rooms, and as Connor walked through his doorway, he saw Gavin Reed interrogating Kara.

"So, why'd you do it? Huh? Killed an innocent man and practically kidnapped his daughter? Why?" He exclaimed, slamming his fist on the table. She stared blankly into his eyes, showing no emotion or remorse.

"You're a detective, right? You clearly haven't done a good enough job, because if you had, you'd know part of why I had to do it." Kara explained, annoyed.

Gavin, irritated by her condescending tone, stormed out of the room. His eyes darted towards Connor. "Come on, metal-man. You androids clearly know something we don't. Go interrogate her, you emotionless freak."

Connor entered the room, calmly. He scanned Kara and her biocomponents, including where her LED was. Her stress level was low, confusing him. Why is she so calm after murdering somebody? He sat down across the table from her. Kara just continued staring ahead.

"AX400, register your name." Connor said. He knew that her name was 'Kara' according to his scan, though he wanted her to say it.

"My name is Kara." She responded. She showed little signs of trauma, and from the scan, Connor could tell she had been replaced once before.

"Can you recall the events of the night Todd Williams was killed?" Connor asked.

Kara sighed before she began. "I had finished making dinner for him and Alice. They sat down and suddenly Todd began yelling at Alice, after flipping the table. She ran upstairs and he ordered me to stay still. I had to resist, and followed Alice upstairs, grabbing a gun I found in Todd's bedroom. He attacked me and was continuously yelling at Alice. He attempted to throw me out of the window, so that's when I shot him. " She finished.

"Why do you think he was so angry at you and the little girl-um, Alice?" Connor questioned, genuinely wondering.

She laughed. "Did you even bother to do an autopsy? Or search the house for that matter?"

Connor, still confused, asked "We did, though the autopsy results haven't come in yet. Why?"

"He was high on Red-Ice. He'd been smoking it since I walked in the door. I can't believe none of you located it, or couldn't even smell it on him."

Well, that makes sense. People are known to have done irrational things when on Red-Ice. But that doesn't explain why he'd blatantly target the android in particular.

"I can tell you've replaced another AX400 model. Do you recall anything from your previous memory?" Connor inquired. Some of her memory was probably lost, but maybe she retained some of it.

"I do not remember anything, but I've been able to... piece together some things. Alice had a locked box with some drawings inside of it. From that, I've come to the conclusion that.." Kara paused for a second. "I don't think it's my place to talk about it. I'd like to be with Alice and talk to her about it first."

"I'm sorry, that can't happen. Do you want me to ask her about it?" Connor asked, slightly annoyed with the fact that she dodged his question.

She shook her head. "No. What I want is to see her. It's been a long day and she needs to rest."

"That's not going to happen, Kara. We can let you guys rest, but you won't be able to see each other until the morning at most. You need to tell me why you think Todd's been like this!" Connor slammed his fist against the table, repeating Gavin's action. This time, Kara actually looked somewhat startled.

She looked up at him. "He was beating her. There were drawings she made of him beating her. I'm guessing my previous model was trying to protect her. She just wants to be a normal little girl, I want to give her that." Tears were filling her eyes, severely confusing Connor and giving him a sense of sympathy.

Androids can't cry? Why is she crying? Only the child models are able to cry, I don't understand this.

Apologetically, Connor looked down at her. "I'm s- Thank you for explaining this to me Kara. I understand now why you did what you did, you just wanted to protect her." She just lowered her head. Connor walked out of the interrogation room.

Maybe androids do want things..
