Pearlapis (Pearl+Lapis)

*Pearl's POV*

  "peaAAAARLLL" I hear steven yell as he runs up the steps to the house. I turn the vacuum off and spin around assuming theres some kind of danger on the beach...per usual. Steven bursts through the door, tears staining his cheeks. "What? What is it?! Homeworld?!?" I ask him frantically.

"No! It's Lapis.. She doesn't seem like she's doing okay and she won't let me help..she told me to go away..." A sigh of relief escapes me as I start walking back to the vacuum.

"I'm sure she will be fine Steven. She's a tough gem."

Steven's voice gets more serious. "No pearl. She's really upset. Will you please go talk to her?" he asks as he wipes his eyes. "You're both homeworld gems...or you were."

I sigh a far less relived sigh. "Okay. I'll go."

*At the Barn*

I walk up slowly, looking for the blue gem as I get closer. I see her slouched over figure up in their little television nook. What am I even going to say to her?... I climb up to the top using a ladder Peridot had left there.

"Um.. Lapis?" I say, gently sitting beside her. She briefly glances at me before letting her blue hair flop back over her eyes.

"Do you ever miss it...Homeworld..?" she asks quietly.

"Of course I do...but, homeworld now isn't the same homeworld that I lived in. It has changed so much." I reply softly.

"Maybe you're the one who's changed. Maybe i'm changing.." Lapis pauses for a moment to look up at me with her tear filled eyes. "I miss it so much but...I feel like it's not home anymore."

I slide a little closer to the ocean gem, placing my hand on her bare shoulder. "That's because it isn't. This is your home now. We are..and I'--we...are always going to accept you."

The sea of tears building in her eyes pour out as she flings herself into my arms sending a cold chill through my entire being. I wrap my arms around the pale gem holding her closer to me...she's so cold..my whole body feels cold...minus my cheeks I suppose. I kind of like this..

My thought gets interupted by cold fingers threading through my own. My eyes shift down to her hand in mine, then to her eyes, no longer burried in my shoulder, but staring into my own.

"I'm going to have to thank Steven for sending you."

My face heats up even more.

Lapis giggles a bit. "I know you didn't come on your own Pearl. But I appreciate it anyways."

The blue gem smiles a bit and kisses me gently on the cheek before summoning her wings.

"I'm going to fly for a bit to try and calm down. This world does have plenty to see."

Heard that before.

"Do you want to come with me?" she asks, extending her hand to me.

"Of course <3"
