Chapter 11

My feet drowned in the serene relaxing feeling of the smooth threads of grass dancing in the cold night wind between my toes. With each deep breath of the night air I somehow felt renewed. Why hadn't I done this before?

I sat next to Felix in the grass behind the mansion adjacent to where the woods begin. Our proximity this time was decent this time and I didn't bother glancing at him with peripheral vision. I can't risk the embarrassment of being caught checking him out again.

The air between us was comfortable I could feel his body heat radiating off him onto me from where I was seated. It was basically an arm's length distance.

"What do you like? I mean what makes you happy?" he sighed in frustration and clenched his jaw, "just forget it." he snapped. I was more or less surprised by his sudden outburst. Something calm about the wind filled my entire body whist I continued gazing at the grass that glistened under the moonlight. It was beautiful...dark and just quiet. The melody of the winds singing through the air like a little flute...

Okay...

"I like a lot of things..."I answered quietly.

"I love reading cliché romance novels especially the ones for teenagers, "I confessed chuckling to myself, "I like music not much of a fanatic about it but I don't mind it." I shrugged, 'not much really that I can say about what I like unless you ask me questions." I glanced at him for a few seconds before turning back.

"What's your favourite colour?" he asked clearing his throat very awkwardly making me laugh at his uneasiness. Could he be nervous?

"I will tell you mine if you tell me yours too." I gave a side glance at him looking at him patiently waiting his answer.

I heard him huff before slowly nodding his head, "I like Black." he stated and I chuckled.

His eyes dawned on what I was laughing at before he too chuckled shaking his head and smiling. A full blown grin. I stared at him in awe at his perfectly aligned white teeth. The teeth in the front in his upper jaw stuck slightly over the rest yet just managed to give off such a bold and gorgeous stance when it came to his smile.

Wow.

I realized I stared too long and blinked away quickly masking my awe. I think white might be my favourite colour now.

"Pun not intended at all," he chuckled, "black is my favourite colour."

"It is shade not a colour," I corrected him, 'If you were to pick a colour what would it be?"

"Then blue." He shrugged.

"Mine I would say... purple I guess." I smiled remembering a cute little purple dress my mother had bought for me on my 10th birthday. It reached my knees and felt so comfortable. It made me feel like some sort of Rapunzel. I didn't have her long hair but I felt truly at home that day. It was a not-so-easy five years accepting my adoptive parents but she did it for me with that dress.

"Are you okay?" Felix's voice snapped me from my daze, "We can go inside if you don't feel alright."

"No I am alright. I just remembered something about my mum," I gulped down any tears that wanted to come out.

"Any way... do you want to ask me anything else?" I asked him a little desperate to change the topic.

"Did you do gymnastics as a kid?" he asked me turning to me with a small smile tugging at his lips.

"Not really why?" I asked him confused at his random question.

"Well that flip in the cafeteria was something." he chuckled and I blushed embarrassed.

"Just call it something I would risk to save my food." I told him nudging him in the shoulder and laughed.

It felt really comfortable talking to him. This thought kind of creped me out considering I was afraid of him just a few weeks ago. I wonder if I should ask him why he hated me.

"Why did you hate me first?"

Of course my mouth had to act on impulse without warning.

"What?"

"Why did you give me glares and sound rude every time you spoke to me the first time we met. Why?" I answered. Well since it fell from my mouth might as well go with it.

As if on cue. I heard Lola's voice echo from inside the house calling Felix.

"FELIX!!!"

"FELIX!!!"

"I have to go now," he sighed and stood up gesturing with his hand to lift me up. I gladly took it and got up dusting off invisible dust from my jean shorts.

I looked up to see his brown orbs staring at me intently. I stepped back to give him some space.

As he walked away I mumbled a small 'thank you' doubting he had heard it.

I walked back to my room inwardly sighing and wishing I could have got that answer. It was still puzzling at how he suddenly wanted to know me. I knew for a fact he hated me. Maybe be not hate but a strong dislike.

"What's got your mind all up in knots?"

Amy snapped me out of my thoughts. I stared at her as she lay so comfortably in my bed with her phone in hand and face visibly flushed. I wouldn't dare even ask whether she was talking to Luke.

"Just so you know this Saturday Luke is coming to take us to the beach!!"She squealed like a baby.

"You know I can't go out yet." I told her sternly.

"Have you asked Felix maybe he can convince his dad for you." she suggested.

"I doubt it."

"We'll see, "she smirked and threw a pillow at my face, "lighten up!!! Come sit down and tell me what went on while you were off getting water."

"I was getting water. That's it." I shrugged sitting on the soft king sized mattress.

"Sure," she stressed out, "for like thirty minutes? I doubt it." she turned off her phone placing it onto of the drawer just by the bed and turned to me with her eyes wider than saucers in anticipation.
