Joshaya Meets Truth or Dare

A/N: Why? Because I don't think I've seen a one shot book without a 'truth or dare' chapter...

Josh's POV

"Riles, this isn't a 'hang out at Riley's house with soda and chips' kinda night. We are not playing this stupid game." Maya says, shaking her head and taking a long sip of her vodka cranberry.

"Scared?" I ask Maya quietly. She smirks at me and then turns to Riley.

"Alright I'm in." She says taking another long sip of her drink.

"Who wants to go first?" I ask, since no one else makes a move to play the game.

"Why dont you go first uncle Josh?" Riley says and I nod nervously.

"Scared?" Maya leans in and whispers in my ear, mocking my tone from earlier. When she moves away, she has a wide smile on her face.

"So, what's it going to be Matthews? Truth or dare?" Maya asks, and somehow that smile gets bigger. I dont know what to choose. She literally has me cornered.

"Um... truth?" I stammer. Shit! I should have said dare.

"Hmm... oh I know! Why did you break up with your last girlfriend?" She asks and Riley gasps. Riley always has had a flare for the dramatics.

"Because I wasn't interested anymore." I say simply. There is no way she's getting any more than that from me.

"Okay Maya, you're next!" Riley sing songs at her best friend. This should be interesting.

"You know I'm a dare girl, Riles.  No need to ask, just hit me with it." Maya states confidently.

"I dare you to pick someone in this room and spend 7 minutes in heaven with them." Riley says while giggling. She's so innocent.

"Fine, but first, another drink." Maya says, standing up and making her way to the kitchen. Everyone watches her walk away and once she's out of earshot, they start talking to each other.

"Who do you think she's going to pick?" Farkle asks Lucas and Riley.

"You are a genius Farkle, why would you need to ask?" Riley giggles.

"Have fun buddy." Lucas tells me, patting me on the shoulder.

"Alright. I've made my choice." Maya announces, returning from the kitchen, drink in hand.

"Eenie, meenie, minie.... Lucas." She says, making everyone's jaw drop.

I dont know what to say. We were all so sure she was going to pick me. That's what makes the most sense. But she didn't. She chose... him. She chose the boy she said she never actually liked over me.

"Saddle up cowboy, you're in for a wild ride." Maya says, winking at Lucas.

Finally, he stands and she takes his hand and leads him away. What the hell just happened!?

Maya's POV

"I think you said the wrong name back there shortstack." Lucas says as we enter the laundry room and the door clicks shut behind us.

"Nope. I meant to pick you." I say, popping the P and turning around to face him.

"Why?" He wonders aloud.

"Well, two reasons really. One, I'm not a predictable person Huckleberry. I like to keep everyone guessing. Two, did you hear that bullshit answer Josh gave? I know why he broke up with her and it cant be because he wasn't interested anymore when he never was in the first place. She was a distraction and I'm done letting him distract himself." I tell him. I mean every word too. I'm on a mission and if this goes as planned, after this stupid game, Josh and I will be done waiting for someday.
