Chapter 9 - Closer

Izuku POV

I woke up with my phone in hand, looking at my clock it was 4:30 am - pretty early even for me. Then it all came back to me, the texting between Toga and I. All this time I had one thought: was I in love. For some reason I want Toga to be more than a friend. More than a best friend. Something I never had.

I shook my head, if I'm in love or not I still be a hero. I did my normal morning routine but I was a bit put off by something. Once it hit half seven, I left off for my usual train journey. I took the early train so there was no Uraraka or any other student there. I was probably the most determined to be a hero in the whole of UA.

One I got there, I just trained in UA's specialty designed training grounds. I perfected my quirks and I'm starting to make special moves or 'ultimate' moves as the hero industry calls it. I finished and went to homeroom. I analyzed random heroes quirks from clips on my phone and wrote it down in my 16th hero notebook.

When Aizawa entered the class I stopped what I was doing a put my stuff away just like the rest of the class. He then took out a remote and pressed a button. A pretty bug television came out showing a bar chart with class 1A student names on.

"This here is how many pro heroes want you lot as their sidekicks. As you can see, 600 heroes wants Izuku as their sidekick. "Aizawa said pretty bored while the whole class had their mouths hanging open. "Second is Shouto Toderoki and 3rd popular is Katsuki Bakugou. "

He then took a bunch of papers that were piled on top of his desk. He then gave everyone a few except for me who gave me 12 sheets. I scanned the papers and realized I have to tick one hero to have an internship with. They were all pretty average heroes until I saw a name that I recognized from somewhere.

Gran Torino - he was the one that taught All Might how to control his power. I ticked that box and gave it to Aizawa. He looked at me surprised.

"Did you read all of it? How could you choose a hero that even I haven't heard heard of? I thought better of you" he said but then walked away to confirm my option. 

To be trained by the sensei who taught the number one hero! How cool is that? Everyone else was busy over thinking about which hero they want to be with be with so they never noticed me texting All Might who I chose. He didn't reply and I assumed he was busy with capturing villains.

                      Time Skip

It's been a few days since I decided my internship and right now i'm at Gran Torino place. It looks a bit worn down but when I opened the door I saw Gran Torino resting. He was very short and old with white hair, it reflected his costume which was yellow and white - part of the reason he was called the golden ager.

"Oh hey kid, I guess your the successor of All Might. Nothing too flashy "he stated as he looked me down. "Throw me your suitcase, I need to check up on a few things"

I slung my brown, rectangular suitcase towards Torino slowly, just in case he couldn't catch it. Surprisingly, he caught it without looking and began his search. I just waited at the doorframe, I noted he had some sort of holes at the bottom of his shoes. Probably to help his quirk.

"Hey kid, try to hit me using One for All. " he simply said while still searching my stuff. I read the little information I had about him and knew that when he was young, during his hero career - he was on his way towards the top 10. He was very successful but something happened and he was forced to quit.
