"I'm back!" Michael's voice rang through the apartment, waking Chelsea from her nap. She tried to sit up, but a heavy arm was draped around her, holding her in place.
"Fuck," she whispered. She looked up to see Calum had, too, drifted off to sleep. She was resting on his chest, and Cal's arm was around her shoulder.
"Chels? Cal? I said I'm back. Come get food." Michael called again. Calum still wasn't budging.
Chelsea inhaled deeply as she placed her hand in the boy's, trying so carefully to move him without waking him. She, however, had no such luck.
"Shit, where am I?" His raspy, sleepy voice asked.
Chelsea giggled. "Michael's house. Michael has the food, if you're ready to eat."
Calum grinned widely as he saw the girl, taking in all of her features, which seemed more beautiful to him now than they ever had. Maybe it was because now, she was no longer his bestfriend's girl. And now, they were starting a life together. As in, they were bringing a life into the world. Calum secretly hoped this would bring them closer together, possibly to a point of romance. He'd always had an attraction to her, but again, she was Luke's at the time.
"You coming?" Chelsea stuck out her hand to him as she stood, as a gesture to help him up.
He pressed his palm to hers and pulled himself up. "Yeah, let's eat."
Michael was seated at the dining room table with a huge Taco Bell bag in the center. In front of him, was a quesarito box, with a drink to the side.
"Cal, I got you two quesadillas and also a Dr. Pepper, if you're good with that."
Calum nodded. "Thanks, man."
Chelsea took a seat between her brother and her baby's father, quickly reaching into the bag and pulling out a handful of loaded potato grillers and a cup of fiesta potatoes.
"You're lucky it was Happier Hour."
Chelsea grinned as she unwrapped her food. "Thanks, Mikey."
"Anything for my sister. And for my little niece or nephew."
"So, Calum," Michael began as Chelsea and Calum took bites of their food. "Did Chels show you the pictures from the sonogram?"
A grin spread across Calum's face. "Uh, yeah.. She did. I can't believe that, like, there's a baby in there. And it's mine."
Chelsea glanced over as Calum continued rambling on about how he was gonna be a dad. She noticed the sparkle in his eyes and the way a smile never left his cheeks. She couldn't help but grin to herself as she saw the way his existence just seemed to brighten.
"Oh, my god. What are we gonna name it? Shit, I hate saying it. Like, that's my baby, my child. I don't wanna call him or her it. Where are we gonna stay? We have to go shopping, like, buy a crib and a highchair and a bunch of clothes and diapers and shoes and-"
"Cal, man. One thing at a time." Michael chuckled.
Calum blushed.
"We have seven months, Calum. We can decide all that later."
"When do we find out if it's a boy or a girl? Oh, god, I hope it's a boy." Calum smiled sheepishly. "Or maybe a little girl. But, I know how teenage boys are, so I don't really know about that. But, I mean, I can always beat some ass to protect her."
"Calum, honey," Chelsea giggled as she laid her hand on his. "We have time. Just eat, okay?"
Calum nodded, and he'd be lying if he didn't say his heart raced when Chelsea held his hand.
