Chelsea rested her hands on her stomach, which was now poking out. Calum was seated at the other end of the couch, and Michael was on the far recliner. Chelsea was three and a half months along on her journey of pregnancy, and as Calum had promised, he stuck by her whenever she needed him.

"Hellooooo?"

Chelsea's eyes doubled in size. She hurried to roll off the couch and Calum tossed her his sweatshirt to pull over her sports bra, to cover her belly. Michael jumped up from his spot quickly.

"Hi, Mom, is that you?" He asked, stepping into the front of the apartment.

The older woman pulled him in for a hug. "Hi, honey. Where's Chels?"

Michael opened his mouth to speak, but the woman pushed around him and headed down the hallway. As she arrived in the living room, she walked in to find her daughter struggling to get into a hoodie, and her son's bestfriend trying to help.

"Chelsea?"

Chelsea looked up, the hoodie halfway on, but still not covering her stomach. "Uh, h-hi, Mommy." She stammered.

Her mother quietly approached her, her eyes locked on the girl's midsection. "What is this?" She asked, pointing.

"Well, uh, Ms. Clifford, it's, uh.." Calum began, trying to help her out.

"Mom, this is, uh... It's my baby."

Karen's jaw dropped. "Your what?"

"My baby. As in, my child."

"You neglected to tell me you and Luke were expecting, Chelsea Elise."

Chelsea ran her fingers over her side braid nervously. "Well, about that.."

"Luke and Chelsea aren't expecting, Mom." Michael said from behind them.

"It's actually Chelsea and I, Ms. Clifford," Calum said softly. His hands shook in his pockets as he watched the face of Chelsea's mother turn.

"It's yours?"

Calum nodded carefully. "Yes, ma'am. I apologize for being so careless. But, I fully intend to support your daughter and grandchild however possible."

Karen stood silent, her hands crossed across her chest for a moment. "Chelsea Elise, you are to move back home immediately. If you're going to have this child, then you're going to need someone to help you out. That way, I can keep you under control and prevent you from being so stupid again."

"No." Chelsea stated simply.

"Excuse me?"

"Mom, I said no. I'm not moving back home."

"I don't know if you remember, but I am your mother, and I am the adult here, and you will do what I say."

"I'm staying with Michael. Even if it means being emancipated or something, I'm not leaving."

Karen sighed. "How on earth do you expect to care for this baby, Chelsea? How are you going to afford clothes and diapers and bottles and furniture? Where is he or she going to sleep?"

"I don't know-"

"I'm working on getting a job, Ms. Clifford, at a local doctor's office. I'm going to be working and making money to help my baby." Calum interjected, taking Chelsea by surprise.

"That covers one question, but the other? Where is the baby sleeping?"

Michael stepped forward. "I have an extra room, Mom."

"Are you really defending her, Michael?"

Michael ran a hand through his hair. "Yes, actually, I am. I'm not happy, but I fully believe she will be an excellent parent, and Cal will, too."

"You're the one who let her get to this point."

"Me?"

Karen nodded. "If you would have been responsible, this wouldn't have happened." She turned on her heel to face her daughter. "And if you wouldn't have been such a complete idiot-"

Chelsea's eyes filled with tears from her mother's insults, and Michael could feel his veins throbbing in anger. No one hurt his baby sister, not even their mother.

"I'm going to have to ask you to leave." Michael said sternly.

"Pardon?"

"I need you to leave, Mom."

She shook her head slowly. "Fine. But if you, either of you, need help, you better not be coming to me because I won't be there."

With that, Karen spun around and followed the hallway to the front door.

Michael approached his sister and engulfed her in an embrace. "It'll be okay, baby sister, we can get through this. We always do."
