Anna woke with a start, panicked, looking around at her surroundings, surprised to find she wasn't in the cell she had grown accustomed to. Feeling strong arms wrap around her waist from behind she flinched and stiffened, relaxing once she heard the familiar comforting voice of her husband as he reassured her "hey, its okay, I've got you"
So yesterday hadn't been a dream. She couldn't believe it, she was free. Anna realised this slowly, soon falling into a state of utter bliss, flashing Sirius a dazzling smile as she relaxed against him. "i love you" she whispered causing him to grin and give her a kiss. The two sat in silence, content with just holding each other and appreciating the second chance life seemed to be giving them.
It was a while later that Anna realised she was no longer sat on a chair in the dining room where they had fallen asleep but instead was laid against Sirius' bare chest in what she vaguely recalled as being his old bedroom. Looking around Anna smiled at the picture that was taped to his wall. "I remember that day" Anna reminisced as she stared at the picture of the 5 marauders. "Moony had just made a joke that was actually funny for once and James was harping on about Lily again" she smiled, feeling Sirius' body shake as he chuckled
"If I remember correctly you smacked me round the head right after" he reminded her with a smirk. She grinned, turning her head up to give him a kiss
"You probably deserved it" she mumbled against his lips, causing him to grin.
However, the silence wasn't intended to last for long as the pair were broken out of their bubble by a loud scream that caused Anna to shrink down against Sirius' chest and Sirius to groan.
At Anna's confused look he explained "My darling mother's portrait likes to scream bloody murder every now and then, apparently she doesn't approve of the company I keep, who would've guessed" he stated sarcastically.
Anna grinned at this, relaxing completely "ooh, let me deal with this?" she begged causing Sirius to give her an incredulous look
"Are you mad?" he asked "why would you willingly want to speak to my mother? she's the devil" he teased.
"Me and Wally have some unfinished business" and with that she was out of the door, Sirius staring at the empty space where she had been moments earlier in disbelief.
Making her way downstairs Anna began to hear the struggles of Mrs Weasley "no George, pull it harder!"
"I'm trying Mum! The damn thing's stuck!"
it was a miracle Anna was even able to hear these struggles over the bellowing noise Walburga was letting out.
Walking over to the portrait Anna coughed loudly causing Molly and George to pause in their efforts. Walburga had also stopped yelling upon noticing the presence of Anna as she stared at her with that same incredulous look she had given her yesterday.
"Honestly Wally, you'd think you'd have more to say at seeing your daughter in law for the first time in 15 years, all this screaming is most unbecoming of you." This seemed to break Walburga out of her trance as she began to wail again, but this time in apparent relief.
"Oh Anna, thank goodness you've returned, the house has become overflown with vermin! Orion will be turning in his grave! Oh Anna, its your duty now to protect the name of Black, Merlin knows we can't trust Sirius to do it."
"Oh yes, of course Walburga, I couldn't agree more" Anna responded wistfully, causing Molly and George to look at her incredulously.
"Wait what?" Sirius asked, having gotten changed and headed downstairs to see how Anna had managed to shut his mother up, only to receive a subtle wink in response.
"Unfortunately i'm waiting to see whether or not they're beyond redemption, especially the Blood traitors, it would be a shame to waste such pure blood don't you agree Walburga?"
She stuttered at this "well.. yes.. i suppose.. but the mudbloods -"
"Are exactly where they belong as our slaves" Anna replied with a blank expression so believable it was hard to tell if she was joking or not.
"OH ANNA THANK YOU! I'M SO PLEASED WE HAVE WELCOMED THE MUDBLOOD FILTH INTO OUR HOME!" screamed Walburga as the most unlikely sentence left her mouth with a tone that could have only been described as worshipping. Sirius and Remus, who had been observing the situation by the stairs in bewilderment burst into laughter at this causing Anna to mockingly glare at the pair as she winked
"excuse me Walburga but I must deal with my Husband accordingly, he's behaving most unbecoming for a man in his position" at Walburgas hesitation she responded "don't worry M'aam, I'll ensure he is punished for his actions and is a son any sane mother would be proud of." With these words, Walburga had burst into tears of happiness, she looked, perhaps, the happiest Sirius had ever seen her, completely unaware she was being tricked into shutting up.
"Of course Anna! Take all the time you need! Oh my daughter, bless you! You have redeemed our house, take all the time you need!" and with that, Anna shut the curtains firmly, finally allowing herself to laugh at the incredulous expression on Molly's face, the awe filled one on George's and Sirius and Remus, who had fallen to the floor, guffawing in laughter.
"Merlin, that should shut her up for a while" Remus exclaimed happily.
Sirius grinned at her as she pulled him up from the floor
"so Lady Black, how are you going to deal with me?" he asked with a sly grin.
Anna grinned slyly before pulling him into a deep kiss that almost had Sirius on the floor again.
"That was ingenious love, can I marry you again?" Sirius mumbled against her lips causing Anna to laugh before replying fondly
"Only if your mothers invited."
