Tyler's POV.
"Tyler." Drew stated. He was the last person I thought I'd see, especially here. We were close back in Jacksonville, but simply he hated me after that and I don't blame him for that honestly; what I did was terrible. I hated myself for it.
"How are you? What are you doing here?" I asked.
"Visiting" He replied shortly.
"You guys know each other?" Valerie interrupted in her delicate voice.
"Knew." Drew corrected, which my stomach drop. I nodded.
"Oh." Valerie looked at me, and I walked away to finish my work, leaving them to talk about god knows what.
"Tyler?" I heard someone saying from behind me, barely hearing them from my heavy and ragged breaths.
I tunred around coming face to face with Drew. He had a deep frown on his face, his eyes twinkling with tears while shaking his head.
"What are you doing here?" He continued questioning me.
"Answer me." He shouted.
"Tyler?" Jane said nudging me.
"Yes, sorry." I turned to her, shaking my head of the memories.
"Take their orders." She demanded, tilting her head towards a group of girls who were staring at me strangely. I probably zoned out while staring at them.
It has been over an hour and Valerie was still chatting with Drew. A part of me was praying that he won't tell her anything, and that she didn't question him how he knew me. Although, I know she did. If she was to know anything it would be from me and only me. Finally, Drew pushed his chair back, hugged Valerie and pushed the door open walking in the busy streets out of my sight. Valerie sat back in her chair opening her book, which I assumed she read many times because of the worn out cover and pages. Big curious eyes scanned the pages carefully, reading with great interest. Her long brown hair down in waves framing her face perfectly, small strands falling in front of her eyes and she pushed them behind her ears; to continue reading.
"Less staring, more talking" Jane said from beside me.
"What do you mean." I said, looking down clearing the counter.
"I might be an old woman, but I can see" She smiled a little.
"She's just a friend." I said.
"Who said I was talking about her." Her smile grew looking at Valerie, walking to the back of the cafe.
Valerie's POV.
I tried to concentrate on the book, but Tyler kept popping in my mind. I looked to my right seeing him cleaning the counter while talking to an old woman, the owner I guess. Looking at my phone, April's name pop up.
"I thought aliens kidnapped you." I said into the phone.
"Ha ha, funny," I pictured her rolling her eyes. "Anyway, I'm sorry I totally forgot about you coming"
"It's okay."
"Where are you?" She asked.
"At the cafe." I replied.
"Hm let me guess, and a very specific hazel-eyed waiter is there too."
"April." I chuckled, feeling the temperature rise.
"Alright alright," She sighed. "If you wanna come, I'm at home now."
"I'll be there in ten." I said, hanging up.
I put the book in my bag, stood up, but as the clumsy person as I am, I almost knocked the chair while standing up. I quickly reached for it before it hit the floor, making all eyes on me. In the process, I managed to knock my phone off the table. Tyler reached me, bending down grabbing my phone and handing it to me, smiling amusingly at me, "Easy."
"Sorry." I breathed, tucking my hair behind my ears.
"It's alright," He smirked at me. "I'll see you tomorrow?"
"Maybe." I shrugged smiling.
"I'll try and take that as a yes."
~
"I've missed you." April said as soon as she opened the door, hugging me.
"I didn't." I said, squeezing her, earning a chuckle from her.
We went inside, April disappeared in the kitchen and I walked upstaires, pushing her postered door I was welcomed by her always messy room.
"I hope my sweater isn't in this pile." I called.
"Of course not." She said, pushing the door open with her shoulder, holding two cups of water in her hand. She put the cups down, walked to her closet revealing yet another pile saying, "It's in that."
"Good to know." I sat on her bed.
"So," She took a step out of the closet. "How's Tyler." She said wiggling her eyebrows.
"He invited me to a party at his house tomorrow." I said. I knew I was gonna regret it, but I kind of told April everything.
"Really." She exclaimed. I nodded.
"What are you gonna wear?"
"I didn't say I was going." I looked at her.
"Oh you are." She shook her head, getting up.
"I didn't make up my mind yet." I told her honestly.
"Well, your pinky cheeks made up their minds." She said, pinching my cheeks.
"Shut up." I groaned.
I sat on April's bed half listening to her ramblings and half thinking about Tyler. I had millions of thoughts running through my mind. If I went to the party, what would I wear? I want to look nice. I want Tyler to tell me I look nice. I don't want Sophia to be there. I feel like my affection for him is increasing by every passing second. April's phone rang ,shutting her up. She pushed herself off the bed, walked to her desk and picked up the phone twirling her hair and saying 'hello'. She remained silent, listening carefully to the speaker.
"Alright," She nodded. "Have fun." And hung up.
I tilted my head waiting for her to tell me.
"My parents will come late." I nodded.
"Now, back to the serious." She clapped her hands.
