chapter 7

steve's pov

"Trouble sleeping" fury asked...

"I slept for almost 70 years sir, I think I have had my fill..." I snapped in reply.   

I stopped hitting the bag and looked over walking to sit and take the tape off my hands

"Then you should be out celebrating, seeing the world."   

"When I went under we were at war when I woke up they tell me we won.. they didn't say What we had lost." I replied recalling everything from tge last few months that I had remembered...

"Sure we made some mistakes along the way. Some very recently" fury admitted 

"You here on a mission sir?" I finally asked

"I am " he replied coolly

"Trying to get me back in the world" I quizzed

"Trying to save it" he corrected

He handed me a packet with a picture of the tesseract along with other Hydra technology.

"Hydras secret weapon" I said in recognition

" Howard fished that out of the ocean when he was looking for you... he thought What we think.  That it could be the key to unlimited sustainable energy. That is something the world sorely needs." He said

"who took it from you" I asked realizing he wouldn't be here if they didn't want it back.

"He's called Loki " fury said cautiously "he's not from around here. There is Alto we would have to bring you up to speed in. The world has gotten stranger than you know.."

"At this point I doubt anything would surprise me" I said with a smirk.

"Ten bucks says your wrong" he challenged "there is a debriefing package waiting at your home.."

I went to pick up the punching bag

"Anything you can tell us about the tesseract that we ought to know now." He quizzed

"You should have left it in the ocean" I said with a bit of anger in my voice.

I locked up behind me leaving some money for the broken punching bag and walked into the cold air I should call Luna now it's only 10:30 so she should still be up

I fished out my phone and looked for her number

L- hello

S- Hey it's Steve

L- I know I have caller id

Did you need something

S- no I was just wondering if I did something wrong

L- no why would you think that

S- you seemed in a big rush to leave I just wanted to know if our date was that bad

L- no no no it's just a family  member is sick and in the hospital and I need to see her

S- OH. OK Well I was just wondering

L- no iy was good but I gotta go so bye I'll call you later

S- OK bye

Luna's POV

I have been driving for hours!!!! Why did they have to choose a hospital so far away urg

After my call with Steve I finally had to stop for gas and snacks as I am starving

Walking into the store I got several bags of chips and a big bottle of sweet tea

I walked up to the register paying for my snacks as Well as $50 in gas for pump 6 I filled up my car and got in to keep driving as I was driving I started to think about my odd conversation with Steve I don't know If I should be scared or happy that he thought of our coffee as a date... I needs to put it out of my head though.  I finally got to the hospital parked and ran in to the receptionist.

"Is Cynthia Ann here"

"Room 106 sweety" she replied

I walked twards her room expecting the worst
