I could feel my bones waiting in anticipation, as I ran further into the forest, far away from the pack house. Most people like to shift near the pack house, but I'm a bit of a loner. I feel the full moon rising and my shift is near. I can't wait to see my wolf. I could feel my bones, breaking and reforming, fur coming out of my skin, my canines extended into fangs and I roared. I ran to the nearest river to see my wolf, jumping for joy, I glanced at my reflection in the water and I'm shocked.

Instead of turning into a wolf, like I expected, I turned into something else entirely.

A White Siberian Tiger.

I was at least ten feet tall, twice as large as any wolf, with crystal clear blue eyes. My snow white fur was lined with stripes and my claws and fangs looked deadly. I was a werecat, the only known enemy of a werewolf, and I lived with werewolves, breathed the same air with werewolves, went to school with werewolves, did everything near bloody werewolves! I was so dead.

"Hey chill Violet, we won't caught." A voice in my head said.

"Who are you?"

"I'm your inner tiger, Charlie."

"Oh hi."

"Hi." She chuckled.

"So how do I not die?"

"Simple. Train with me,get stronger, and trust me."

"Okay. Charlie let's do this."

"Alright first, do not tell anyone what you are, second do not train with the pack, and third do not get discovered. Got it Violet?"

"Yes."

I took a breath. I got home in record time, not missing dinner.

"How was your shift?" My Mom said cheerfully.

"Good. My wolf's nice." I replied back vaguely.

"What color is she?" Mom asked.

"White with Black." I said, at least it's a half-truth.

"Cool, I can't wait to see her." Mom said, ignoring my discomfort.

The door opened to reveal Dad, come home from work, his tie knotted, his suit wrinkled, and one shoelace untied. Dad always fell asleep during his business meetings.

"How was the shift?" Dad asked curiously.

"Great." I said stuffing my mouth with KFC, to avoid any conservations.

"Look what I got in the mail. It's an invitation, to the Mates' Ball." Dad said handing the invitation over to Mom, who could burst from excitement.

I rolled my eyes. The Mates' Ball, was once every lunar esclipe where werewolves could find their mates. Everyone would go, and wait till midnight, and then they would find their soulmate. I found the entire thing cliche, teenage girls getting dressed up, doing their hair and make-up, giddy and excited. The entire thing was worst than prom. The worst part was that after you turn sixteen you are required to go, which sucks for me, because I don't believe in the whole soul mate concept.

"When's the ball?" I said with food in my mouth.

"Six months from now! Oh my gosh, we have to get your dress, and shoes, and go shopping! We have so much to do!"

"Shopping. Yay." I said, I clapped my hands, sarcastically. Shopping with my Mom is horrible, everytime we go to a store she makes me try on everything twice, and then leaves and buys nothing!

"Oooo look, Alpha Jace is coming, who knows Violet maybe you're his mate." Mom giggled excitedly. That woman was envisioning her grand-children, already.

I choked on my food. Alpha Jace is the alpha of the Redwood Pack, the biggest and deadliest pack in the world, known for killing the last werecats.

"Let's hope not." I murmured.
