Barson- I need you

Finding out

Liv woke up a few hours later with her head on Barba's chest. She heard a knock on her door. 

Benson: "Come in"

In walked Finn and Rollins.

Tutuola: "Since when has this been a thing?"

Rollins: "I'm not even going to start on how wrong this is."

Tutuola: "Amanda, stop! I hate to break this to you Liv but we need to know if you want a rape kit. The doctor will be coming in shortly and you can tell him your decision."

Benson: "Thanks Finn."

With that Finn and Rollins walked out into the hallway.

~In the Hallway~

Tutuola: "Amanda, what the hell was that?"

Rollins: "You know that we wont be able to work with Barba anymore if they're dating."

Tutuola: "Well nobody has to know. Just let her be happy for once. She's be through a lot. I can't even imagine what that man did to her. I think that she needs a support system right now and Barba can provide that for her."

Rollins: "Fine. I wont tell but if anything happens it's on you"

~Back in Liv's Room~

Liv was crying and tried to go back to sleep so she snuggled into Barba's chest more. Barba felt Liv moving and he woke up. Barba saw that she was crying.

Barba: "Hey, what's wrong?"

Benson: "The squad knows and Rollins is angry."

Barba: "What does the squad know?"

Benson: "The squad knows about us and they want me to get a rape kit and..."

Liv started hyperventilating and Barba pulled her into a hug.

Barba: "Shhhh, it's okay, I'm here."

Benson: (crying) "I'm scared."

Barba: "It's okay, I can be there with you if you want. We're gonna get through this."

Benson: "But I don't know if I want a rape kit. He's already dead. It's not like they can charge him with anything."

Barba: "Yeah but Liv, we need to make sure that you're okay. I don't want to speculate about what happened but if he followed his pattern you could have some serious... urm... internal damage. I think at the very least you should get an exam."

Benson: "Ok, I guess so."

Just then the doctor walked in and asked Liv if she had made a decision about the rape kit. She said she would do it. Barba hopped out of Liv's bed and the doctor rolled her down the hall to the exam room. He transferred her onto the exam table. The doctor gave her a gown and said that a nurse would be there in a minute to help her change.

Benson: "It's okay I got it."

After the doctor left, Liv started fumbling around trying to change into the other gown when she heard a knock on the door.

Barba:"Hey Liv it's me, I just want you to know that I'm right outside."

Just after Barba said that, he heard a loud crash inside the room and he ran in. He saw Liv half dressed on the floor in a heap.

Barba: "What just happened, are you okay?"

Benson: (Crying) "I was trying to get myself changed and I fell. I can't even do anything by myself anymore."

Barba: "Well, that's why you have me."

Barba helped Liv off the floor and she grabbed his shoulders for balance he helped her take her underwear off and put on the other gown. After that, he helped her back onto the exam table. The doctor walked in.

Doctor: "Hi, are you Olivia Benson?"

Benson: "I am."

Doctor: "Are you ready for your rape exam?"

Benson: "Umm, I guess so."

Doctor: "If you want, this man can stay until we do the actual exam."

Benson: "Okay."

The doctor asked Liv a bunch of questions about her medical and sexual history. She answered all of them while clutching Barba's hand. 

Doctor: "Sir, I'm going to start the exam, I'm going to have to ask you to leave."

Benson: "Um can he stay?"

Doctor: "Sir, is that okay?"

Barba: "Sure."

The doctor asked Liv the lay back on the table. He looked at and photographed all the cuts, bruises and gunshot wounds.

Doctor: "Ok, so I'm going to need you to sit up and put your feet into the stirrups."

Liv sat up and put her feet in the stirrups and the doctor pulled up her gown. As he did this, Liv gripped Barba's hand even harder. When the doctor inserted the speculum, Liv started crying and Barba reached over and pulled her head to his chest. The doctor finished the exam and pulled her gown back down.

Doctor: "Ok, so I'm finished with the exam. Why don't you change back and we'll wheel you back to your room so I can have a discussion with you."

Barba helped Liv get dressed and carried her onto her hospital bed. The nurse came in a wheeled the bed back to Liv's room and Barba followed. The doctor came in and sat down. 

Doctor: "So based off of your exam, I have some news that I need to tell you and it's not going to be that easy to here. Sir, you should probably sit down."

Barba sat on the edge of the bed and grabbed Liv's hand.

Doctor: "When I was doing the exam, I saw a lot of extensive internal injuries. They look like they'll heal on their own... But the likelihood of you being able to conceive any children is very low. I am sorry. If you have any questions press your call buttons and the nurse will come and get me."

The doctor left and Liv broke down. Barba slid into the bed next to her and just hugged her, knowing there was nothing he could say to make it better.

Benson: "I can't believe this is happening."

Barba: "We'll get through this together."

Benson: "You don't get it, do you?"

Barba: "What do I not know? I know it may not be much consolation but at least you have Noah."

Benson: "I know and I love him with all my heart but I was hoping that maybe in the future... never mind it's stupid."

Barba: "It's probably not stupid. You can tell me."

Benson: "I was hoping the we, you and me would have a kid together."

Barba: "Oh Liv, I love you so much. We'll get through this. This wouldn't be our only option. And like I said before, I want to be a part of Noah's life if you'll let me."

Benson: "Thanks Rafael, that makes me feel better."

Liv stopped talking suddenly and started freaking out.

Barba: "What's wrong."

Benson: "Where's Noah, where's my baby."

Barba: "Shhh, Liv it's okay. I picked him up from daycare earlier and called Lucy. She's at my house with him now."

Benson: "Thanks Rafael."
