Prolouge~

A dark storm rolls in, covering the Village Hidden in the Sand. All of the inhabitants look up at the sky, surprised. For it hasn’t rained since the beginning of time. With a crack of lightning, the rain starts pouring down, with no mercy. The once bright day turns into a dark and gloomy wonderland. The streets of the Sand Village are full of people trying to close up shop and get inside. Mothers rush their children in from the rain and wind, trying to keep them dry. The kids, once out of their mothers grasps, run towards the windows and watch the strange phenomenon. Everyone watches and wonders what has been so upset that the weather is relaying the emotions onto the earth and its people. Superstitious villagers began setting up alters, and start praying, hoping to calm the God enough to please it. But this is not the work of a God. No, not a God, but a small child at the age of six years old.

The little girl walks the deserted streets as the rain pours down around her. Not a single drop landing on her. The wind blows her dark black hair around her naturally pale face, which contrast with her electric blue eyes. Her long black cloak is tattered and torn, yet somehow still dry. In fact, she is completely dry. From head to toe, not a single drop of water reaches her. Her bare feet are silent in the pouring rain. Every step she takes, the sand turns dry, then wet once again as she moves on.

No one seems to see the little girl, as she sadly makes her way through the town. No one except for a certain someone. Someone who is like her. Someone with electrifying red hair. Someone who can wield sand. Someone whose name is Subaku no Gaara.

The lonely red head makes his way silently behind the girl. His sand useless because of the rain. Something about her caught his attention. Maybe it was the way she held herself, slightly terrified yet just plain lonely. Or maybe it was the great amount of chakra emitting from her. Or, perhaps, it was the look. The look in her eyes. The same look that Gaara has in his eyes. The look of complete and udder isolation. Her eyes, the seemingly dead look in them that make you want to turn around and take off running.

Whatever it is, it intrigued him enough to make him follow her. Only when she was about to turn did he get the guts to speak up. “H-Hey! Wait!” The little girl, shocked that someone can see her, turns and looks at the young jinchuuriki. “Yes?” she asks. “Who are you?” “I am Dalila Lupei. Who are you?” “I am Subaku no Gaara.” The two stand there and watch each other for a couple minutes. Both in their own worlds. “This is awkward. I will be leaving now.” “Wait!” Dalila stops, mid step. “Why are you not afraid?” Dalila sighs, and looks at Gaara over her shoulder. “Because we are the same.”

And with that, Dalila turns around and walks down the road. Continuing her journey. But, something in her made her turn around. It made her walk back to where Gaara was still standing in the rain. Then, she hugged him. Gaara, surprised, tensed up, waiting for his sand to attack. But, nothing happened. So, Gaara slowly raised his arms and hugged her back. “W-Why?” Without looking up Dalila replies. “Because we are the same. And the same need to stick together.” “What do you mean?” Gaara asks, confused. “It means that we are now friends.” “Forever?” “Forever and ever.” With that, Dalila steps back and holds out her pinky. Gaara copies her actions and they lock pinkies.

“Do you want to live with me? It could be like a permanent sleepover!” An excited Gaara exclaims. Dalila simply nods her head with a smile plastered on her face. “YAY! It’s this way!” Gaara grabs Dalila’s hand and drags her off to his house. The smile on her face spread so big, it started to hurt her face. But she didn’t care. As the smile grew, the rain stopped and the clouds disappeared altogether. This small miracle was the start of a new, happy, and fresh relationship between friends. Let’s just hope that they enjoy it.

Because soon everything will take a turn for the worst.
