She was the puzzle piece which was never meant to be a part of the puzzle.
Her family, the epitome of perfection. She was happy to be herself.
She had everyone with her; parents, cousins, friends but still she felt all lonely.
In a crowd of hundreds she was ALONE.Ambily's POV
Samuel and I were waiting for Brogen who had gone to get the map.
"What's taking her so long?"
Samuel had grown worried about her.
"Ambily run!!" We heard a voice from inside the house.
"She called out my name....Didn't she? Ohh... No!"
We looked at each other with shock in our eyes.
"Brogen!!" Samuel exclaimed.
He figured out that something bad had happenend to his sister.
"Ambily run!!" We heard her scream.
Before I could process what was happening, we heard a shrieking sound from inside.
"Samuel we have to save her." My heart started pounding very fast. Not knowing what to do, I started walking towards the house.
"No! Wait!!" Samuel pulled me by my hand and took me outside the gate.
He hid both of us behind the boundary wall.
"What? You're crazy she's your sister and is in danger.
You can't leave her to die there." I blurted all the words together.
"I know what I'm doing." He scolded.
"Then come, she needs us."
I moved again to go inside.
"What if she doesn't want to be saved?" His voice was very soft and vulnerable.
I turned to look at him. His head was bowed low.
"What if the person you're trying to save, doesn't want to be saved?" He repeated and raised his head looking directly into my eyes.
I saw tears and pain in them.
"What do you mean?" He knows something... more.
"She knew sooner or later Russell would find out that we helped you, but still she did it all.... Just to save you.
Don't let her sacrifice go in vain, Ambily.
LEAVE."
Tears started flowing down his eyes.
"I can't do that.... After knowing that I could've saved her.... I can't." I sighed.
"You aren't thinking to go back, are you?" I nodded and he started rubbing his temple with his fingers.
"Ehh!! Why don't you get it straight. Even if you return to him he won't let go." He explained and part of me knew, he was right.
Yet the other part of me didn't want to listen.
I shook my head to disagree.
"You have to leave.... For Brogen, please."
No-one has ever put their life in danger for me.
I have grown in mids of people where all they care about is their luxuries, showoff and reputation.
I never fit in them.
That's the reason I chose to be a doctor and help people whereas all my cousins chose to be in bussiness or marry some rich guy.
I wanted to save lives... Never thought that it would be me who needs saving.
Brogen, who had suffered so much was sacrificing herself for me, how can someone be so selfless.
"I will do everything in my power to save her." Samuel promised.
"Hmmm...."
I reluctantly nodded and started walking into the forest.
******
I don't even know for how long I've been walking.
Brogen's thoughts had occupied my mind. I hope she's okay.
Before leaving Samuel instructed me to take the first right to reach the cottage.
All the trees are so similar...there's not even a trail or sign of any human in here.
I walked a little further separating all the brunches that blocked my way.
'There it is!' I saw a small path.
There was a big tree at the center. Two ways went straight, one to the right and the other to the left.
Samuel told me to take right, it will lead me home.
A smile spread on my face and I ran towards it.
Before I could go any further, I heard someone talking.
I hid behind a tree.
They were Russel's men.
"She will pass from here. This is the only way leading to the cottage." One of them told the rest.
The men looked dangerous with guns loaded in their hands.
I moved back and turned to run away.. 'But, where will I go?'
'Ohh... God save me.'
I tripped on a stone but managed not to fall.
"There she is."
One of the guards shouted to inform the others.
'They saw me!!'
I started running in the opposite direction not knowing where it'll lead me but that was the only way to escape.
I ran as fast as I could.
****
I reached a clear area the one similar to that near the river.
I looked around... That was the place I had come to yesterday... before those monsters kidnapped me.
This time I was on the other side of the river.
The place looks so familiar... As if, I've been here before... But when?
The Mafia men were still following me.
I turned my head to look back not daring to stop running.
I saw no-one behind.
I never knew I could run so fast.
My legs hurt, my body hurts.
The stones near the river bed pierced my foot. I saw my footprints stained in blood.
Looking at the blood panic took over me.
My mind became foggy and legs gave up.
I can't run anymore, I can't escape from my fate.
If destiny wants to do this to me, no one can stop it.
'I'm tired of running... I need to stop...stop.
Everything started becoming blur. I quit. I can't fight anymore....
"No.... don't stop" my inner voice spoke.
"This is your only chance. Run for your life.... to complete your dreams."
"Ambily run!!" I heard Brogen's voice in my mind... my freedom will be hers.
'I .WON'T. QUIT.'
I have to cross the river but the water is flowing too fast.I need to find a shallow end.
I heard the men instructing others to search me in different directions.
"There...I found her.", someone said.
My throath was dry, sweat dripping from all over my body.
I turned my head to look back, this time to see a dark monstrous man chasing me.
I didn't realize when I banged into something.... really strong.
I was falling back, gravity pulling me down but before I could come in contact with the hard pebbled ground, I was gathered by arms in mid air.
Two strong arms wrapped around my waist and pulled me towards his hard chest.
I was facing him. My hands resting on his chest.
I looked up to see him.. His eyes?
They were the same colour I had seen in my dreams...were they sterling grey or hazel.
But, how's it possible?
In my dreams I would see only his eyes.. But now I saw his beautiful face.
His sharp jawline, tanned skin.
He looked very intense but beautiful.
I was dazed by his appearance.
He was staring at me, his eyes dark, vulnerable and full of questions.
"What happened?" His voice sounded hoarse.
I could see nothing but his eyes, could hear nothing but his tensed breadth.
"Tell me!!" He shook me, snapping me out of my dreams.
