"Just go. Nothing will happen!" I cried out to Josh. He clutched onto the fence and pulled himself up. "Ok now pull me up."

"Why do I make you talk me into this anyways." he grunts and stretches an arm out to me.

I grip it gently, grinning. "Because you love me to death." Josh and I have been friends since kindergarten. One of his friends had put glue in my chair, trying to get me to sit on it. Josh, trying to be the hero and all that, took a seat on the chair before me. The funny thing was that he could've just switched out the chair with an extra one. And I've loved him since then.

You would think if a boy and a girl were best friends for that long, up until senior year of high school, that we had to have gone out sometime between then. And that's true, we did. Only for our freshman year. I mean, we loved each other, but as friends. So I broke up with him. It just felt weird to date a best friend like that out of the blue. He hadn't talked to me much that year after the break-up. I rarely saw him at school. Probably a few glancing here and there. Calling didn't work either. He would never answer his cell. When I always go to visit him, he would never be home. I was worried he went out and done something horrible because of me. Me, a semi-pretty gothic with dark hair and blue eyes. That had been the worse year of my life. Just being without him. Worrying over him.

My junior year, he appeared out of nowhere. I hadn't even recognized him at first. He had changed so much. He had became more muscular and toned than before. Green eyes sparkled more than usual. Not that he hadn't been cute to begin with, but his new features made it hard to not look at him. I didn't know what had happened to him and I didn't care. I was just glad to see he was okay.

Seeing him now, pulling me over the fence to the old Wechter yard, I regret to have broke up with him. I mean, I've know him all my life, but now there's this newfound attraction I have for him that I've never felt before. My thoughts shattered when I lost my balance and fell into Josh's arms. He caught me quickly without hesitation. "Ouch." I glanced up to find him smiling down at me. "What's so funny?" I demanded.

He snorted then. "It's just that you've become so clumsy since I came back last year."

"I'm not clumsy." I said angrily and punched him in his chest. He didn't budge a single inch. Wow, he has a chest of steel, I thought as I rubbed the pain in my knuckles. "Just put me down and let's go in." He nodded and bent over so I could lower my feet to the ground. My face went red when I caught a whiff of his soapy skin. I tried hard to think about something else.

I didn't even know why we were there at the Wechter house. Especially at night. I just felt this weird attraction to the place. Like I needed to be there for some reason. So I just went, with Josh of course. The good thing is that it was abandoned so there was no reason for us to get into any trouble if no one claimed the territory.

The front door opened swiftly when I pushed it. A cold chill ran down my spine. "That was weird." I muttered. Suddenly a strong feeling of warmth hit me. The feeling felt good and painful at the same time. I tracked the odd sensation, Josh following close behind me. Every move I made, the pain started to fade away. We ended up in which I thought to be the house's living room. The whole area was empty except for one table and four chairs at the center over a large silk red carpet. I stepped over to the table and studied it. "Shouldn't this be dusty? Didn't you say this place was ancient?" I asked Josh. He nodded but kept quiet. He seemed to be apprehensive about something. I stepped over to him and laid a hand on his rosy cheeks. He's warm as hell. Is he sick? "Are you okay?" I asked him, rubbing at his cheek like a little preschooler. "You feel weird about this place too, don't you?"

He smiled back at me. "Yeah. Kind of." he said finally. He raised his arm and softly grabbed my hand from his cheek and pulled it to his heart. "You know I love you right Sky?"

"Of course I do." Why did he have to ask? We tell each other that almost every day.

"To death." he mumbled, trying to hold his smile. He gripped my hand tighter, then quickly let it go. "Alright. Do it." I heard him say. He stepped back a few feet from me and bowed his head so I couldn't see his eyes.

"Do what?" I asked him. He stayed silent and shook his head. "Do what?" I demanded screaming now. I had to admit, I was scared. I've never felt this way with Josh. He had always made me feel safe and protected. But now I felt afraid and vulnerable. "Josh?"

"Aren't you a cute one?"

I turned to the voice and gasped. It was a young boy, probably a few years older than me, who stood across the room. He had on black slacks and a long dark coat. His eyes glowed red towards me in the shadows. He raised his arm and I raised with it. I started shrieking now. Who the hell was he? And what the hell was I doing floating two feet above the ground? "Josh! Josh!" I screamed, but he didn't move.

The man giggled with delight and cupped his hand. I could feel an unknown force wrap it's hand around my neck and squeeze. Hard. I tried to scream and scream, but nothing escaped my throat. More giggles leaked out of his mouth when I felt myself being thrown hard against the wall behind me, past Josh. I struggled on the wall trying to break loose, until the man quickly appeared before me. "You really are a cute one." he whispered to me and pulled my chin up. He slithered his hand down to my neck. "Your pulse is racing." he grinned. What is this guy trying to do to me? He began to laugh again.

"Wait Alexander." I noticed it was Josh's voice. He was finally looking at me with his green, cold eyes. "Can I have the honor to do it?" he asked.

Alexander frowned and stepped away from me. "She is your friend." he said and stepped leisurely out of the room. "Make it quick. We need her checked soon."

Once Alexander had left, the force that was holding me up left too. I collapsed to my knees, still shaken by what just happened. I saw Josh walk over to me, face still expressionless. He crouched over and gazed at me. "Josh we have to get out! We have to--" I stopped when I felt his hand grasp my neck, tenderly stroking it. His touch, as cold as ice, seemed to calm me down to a point I couldn't speak. Then he pulled me to his lips. I used to love his kisses, but now, I adore them. I returned his kiss and pulled him closer until he was laying on top of me. Then he worked his way down to my neck, kissing every part of my skin on the way. I abruptly sensed something sharp pierce my skin. I could feel the blood spilling out over my shirt. "Josh..." His tongue licked at the wound on my neck and soothingly suck out the blood. "Josh, what are you...doing?" I said slowly, feeling a little light headed.

"Don't worry." he whispered onto my skin. I shivered from the feel of his breath. He sunk his teeth into my neck and sucked. A weird pleasurable feeling washed over me as he continued to suck out the blood. It felt good. So good that I wanted him to just finish me off. I melted into him. His heart, his soul. I could feel him all. We were molded into one in those few moments. I tugged his head closer and harder to my neck, wanting to feel more of the pain. Then suddenly, he stopped and pulled away. He looked at me, fangs bared and face smothered in blood. Green eyes brighter than ever. I blacked out then with his face forever printed in my mind.
