"Alex, you bastard! Where are you?" I screamed, sending an echo throughout the house. Alex walked out of the dining room.

"I'm a bastard now? What is it with you?" he grinned.

"Shut up." I took a deep breath. "How does Shelby know about us? Josh and I?"

He crossed his arms over his chest. "She's nosy. She know everything about you two. Just like I do." he stepped closer to me, studying my face. "Aww did you two have a fight?" When I scowled at him, he started to laugh. "And Shelby was in the middle of it. How horrible."

""Bastard." Was all I said.

"Music to my ears." he ran his tongue over his lips. "Now the question is why do you come to me? If I recall, you hated me."

"Still do." I said, arching towards him. "I just want all of this pain to go away."

"How do you propose to do that?" he wondered.

"How about you shut up," I ran my fingers through his brown hair, sighing to it's softness. "And I do all the work."

He smirked, leaning away a little leaving me craving him. "Finally giving in, Dementia? This is not you."

"Get used to it, Lance. We are married after all, right?" I crushed my body against his. He stumbled back, surprised. "It won't hurt," I kissed him. He cupped the sides of my face, fingers brushing the back of my ears. I had no idea where that all came from, but I feel like I have this physical attraction to Lance. None on an emotional level at all.

I pushed him toward the bedroom and onto the bed. He ran his hands along my hips up to my waist, slowly tugging off my top. I pressed my hand to his chest to pull off from his lips. "I think we're done here." I glanced into his eyes, grinning. Even though I would love to stay with him, I don't necessarily want to give up my virginity to someone I don't feel anything for.

"Not even close." He grabbed my hair, yanking me back for another kiss. For some odd reason, it turned me on when he takes control like he does. It's something Josh never did.

I nibbled at his bottom lip before breaking away again. "Yes we are. I think I finally got everything out of my system."

He licked his lips. "You know," his arm curled around my back, forcing me back against his chest. It felt as the air was knocked out of me. "I can just take what I desire."

"You desire me?" I asked innocently, but knew what the answer was going to be.

"I desire your lips." He kissed me again. His hands slid down my thigh. "And your body."

"But you don't love me." I sat up from on top of him. "Did we ever love each other, Lance?" I asked.

He sighed, resting his arms above his head. "We did. Once. Until you fell for Jacob."

"So what is all this between us? Lust?"

He nodded. "We had a strong attraction to each other from the beginning. This reicarnation of you, the one you are now, just renewed that."

I blushed. "I didn't mean to use you, you know. I--"

He waved his hand as if trying to blow away my next words. "Your anguish for your Jacob is not my concern. I don't want to hear it." There was a tinge of jealousy in those words.

"I'm sorry." I added in quickly so he wouldn't wave that off too. I decided to change the subject. "The Cutters are looking for me. Josh said they were."

"They want you dead for good." he sat up beside me. "But I won't let them hurt you, so don't worry."

I rested my head on his shoulder. "I don't mind dying." Alex pulled me into a hug. It felt out of place because he didn't strike me as the hugging type. Although, it was a nice gesture. "I have nothing to live for anymore."

"The reason to live is to just live. If you remembered your past lives, you wouldn't say all this. You did a lot of good." he reassured me.

"And you?" I waited a beat, realizing he probably didn't understand what I meant. "Did you do any good in your lifetimes?"

He shook his head. "I don't believe so. Being your husband has its perks when my wife's an angel."

I laughed. "This is so not the you that I met."

"People change ." he smiled. And this smile wasn't a mocking smile. It was more of an actual nice smile.

I pulled away from him and stood up. "You should smile like that more often. It makes me like you more."

"For you, I'll try."

I kissed his cheek. "Thanks. You just made me feel a whole lot better."

"How?" he asked.

"Just talking to me. You may have some downsides, but if I didn't know any better, you're worried about me." I said, slipping back on my shirt.

"Are you leaving?"

I sighed. At least he didn't deny caring about me. "Yeah."

"I highly suggest you stay here for the meantime." he stood up with me. "The Cutters and all."

I nodded. "Are you sure you want me to stay here?"

"I should protect you. I owe you that much."

"Um okay. Sure."
