I woke with a killer headache. "What the hell?"

"Great you're awake."

I squinted, trying to adjust to the light. Josh was smiling at me. "Josh?" I rubbed my head and tried to remember what had happened last night. Josh and I were sneaking into the Wechter house. Then we ran into this weird guy. And Josh and I...I blushed and covered my mouth. Did Josh and I sleep with each other? Well it wasn't exactly, but it felt that way. My face grew even more red as I thought about it.

"Hey, sleepy head. Are you feeling alright?" he said, leaned over, and kissed my forehead. I nodded slowly.

"Josh about last night..." I started. "So I'm a vampire, aren't I?" I knew what a vampire was. Who hasn't read any books about it? But seeing it for real scared the hell out of me.

He grinned. "I had to do it Sky. We needed you."

"We?"

"Alexander and I." he answered.

I reminisced on the scene with Alexander. His dark red eyes. His flirtatious touch around my neck. "So you set all this up to get me?"

"Yes. We had no choice."

I ignored him. "And the alluring feeling I had about this place then. What was that about?"

"I was controlling your mind to come here. That's one of the few things certain vampires can do." Josh explained. I glanced around. I was lying in a bedroom. Drapes barely covered up the windows. Overall, it was a small room. Josh grabbed my shoulder and squeezed it. "It's going to be okay Sky."

"Just tell me," I started and sighed. He had dropped his arm. "Did you feel what was happening between us when you, you know, bit me?"

Josh's smile grew wider. "Yeah I did." he said. "It's not exactly what you're supposed to feel when you're feeding on someone, but it felt differently with you. It felt really good."

I started to blush again. So he did feel it. This has to be a dream. All of this is too unreal. I dropped my head back onto my pillow. "Ok. Now wake me up out of this nightmare. I know this is all a nightmare." I shut my eyes and waited a few seconds so I could wake up in my room knowing everything is okay.

Josh chuckled at the side of my bed. "You think this is a nightmare? Did it feel that bad turning into one of us?" he mounted onto my bed and leaned over me. "Do you want to try it again?" he asked teasingly.

"No I'm not doing it again Josh!" I said and shoved him off. I flipped my eyes open and glared at him.

"I was just kidding." he told me and collected himself. "I don't want you to feel this way about it. You weren't supposed to."

"It's just, you didn't even ask me about this."

"I'm sorry Sky. It's what you're meant to become."

"Right." I rolled my eyes. "You're always so positive about everything."

Josh stood up, but kept his eyes on me. "It's how I am."

"So, where is my symptoms of being a vampire? Like fangs, powers, burning sunlight, and lust for blood?" I asked, climbing out of the bed. My whole body was stiff. Though overall, I felt great and more rejuvenated.

"It's always there. You just don't notice it yet. Besides vampires can walk in sunlight. Those were just fables."

I glanced down at my watch and gasped. "It's nine thirty?" I rushed past Josh out the door. "My dad is going to kill me."

"Wait Sky." I heard Josh say. I ignored him and ran for the staircase. He suddenly appeared a few inches before me. "Sky." My foot skipped a step, leaving me off balance. Josh caught me just in time. I wrapped my arms around him, hoping I wouldn't fall over. "Still as clumsy as ever."

I grunted and looked up at him. "I wouldn't be so clumsy if you didn't come out of nowhere!"

Josh smiled. "Sorry. I had to stop you." He pulled me away and stared at me intensely. "You're not going to tell anyone about this, are you? You can't tell anyone."

"Even if I did, no one will believe me." I sighed. I don't even believe it myself., I thought. "Just don't worry. I won't tell." I brought m finger to my lips. "I promise."

"Alright then." Josh yanked me into another hug.

"What a cute couple." Josh and I turned around to see Alexander grinning at the bottom of the staircase. We quickly pulled away from each other, embarrassed. "I didn't mean to interrupt, but I need to speak with you Joshua." I could feel his gaze burn into me as I quickly felt uncomfortable.

"Yeah, sure." Josh turned to me. "I'll see you later." he whispered and kissed me gently on my lips. I nodded and walked past Alexander towards the front door. His eyes followed me as I stepped out and shut the door. "Ok what did you need Alex?" Josh asked, pulling Alexander's attention to him.

"You cannot stay with her." he spit out.

"What are you trying to say?" Josh asked, trotting down the staircase to meet him.

"I will you to not see her again. It's for everyone's well-being."

"But I'm in love with her! You can't tell me not to see her!" Josh exclaimed.

Alexander sighed. "I didn't want to tell you this until I was sure. But since she turned into one of us, I realized how sure I am. The love you two have may just be the downfall of all generations of vampires."

Josh is such an idiot. He didn't even tell me if vampires can walk in the sun or not. He's so lucky we can. I glanced up into the sun. "No vampire symptoms. Maybe Josh was playing with me." I remembered the speed that Josh and Alexander portrayed and grunted. "Well maybe not."

As I crossed my front lawn, I paused. "I wonder if he's even home. He's always at work." I turned around to see if dad had moved the trash can. It wasn't moved. Before I turned into the house, I noticed a boy standing across the street. He had a fixed stare on me. I could see he was wearing all black. His short blond hair glistened in the sun. He seemed vaguely familiar to me though. "Hey." I said. The boy didn't move. The moment I looked away, he disappeared. "What the hell?" I muttered. Who was that kid?
