Justin's POV
I dozed off again on the couch an hour later after Selena left. I don't know but I just feel sick, I have a light headache and I feel like sleeping. More.
It was past four until Selena arrived, carrying a paper bag and sporting my favorite radiant smile. But this time, it's way too brighter not to think something good has happened to her during the day with Taylor.
I slowly sat up, ignoring the slight pain in my back. “Hey, beautiful.”
She do looked beautiful. Wearing a white crop top and a black skirt with intricate designs that past over her knees. Looking ever so classy. Maybe it's not really what she wears, it doesn't matter sometimes. It's just her. She simply looked beautiful without even trying. My radiant angel.
“Hi,” she said, winking at me before entering the kitchen. Placing the goods on the countertop, then walked back towards the living room still wearing the gigantic smile.
Okay...
She sat next to me, and shuffled my already unruly hair. “Don't tell me you fell asleep again.”
I shrugged, “I'm tired. You somehow managed to wore me out.”
“Ha.”
I smiled and lean in to kiss her. She didn't move away and tilted her head a little so I could get a better access without having our nose bumping. I kissed her softly, gently pulling her towards me.
“What's with that gi-huge-tic smile?” I asked when we both pulled away. The smile hasn't disappeared yet and I am really curious about it.
“Guess who hang out with today?” She smiles up at me with a glimpse of twinkle in her doe eyes. She looks genuinely happy, and boy, I want to keep it that way.
I furrowed my eyebrows. I have no idea, at all. She said she'd be with Tay, but I guess she won't need me to guess it if she's talking about her. After a few more seconds of thinking, I gave up. “Who?”
“Not gonna throw out a name for a wild guess?”
“Nope. No idea besides Taylor.”
She nodded, and seemed to ponder about something for a second. Then she leaned closer, resting her head on my shoulder. “Ariana.”
I sighed.
“Ah, well that's gre—wait, what?” I say through my gritted teeth, “did you just say Ariana?”
She nodded and looked up to me with a frown. “Are you upset?”
I stiffly shook my head. “No. Just kind of surprised.”
“And betrayed,” I quickly added, my lips forming into a lop-sided smile.
“What?” she taunts.
“You lied. You said you'd be meeting with Taylor but you decided to meet her instead and didn't even tell me?”
I heard her tsk-ed softly under her breath. “Shut up.”
I rolled my eyes, “am I going to like where this is going?”
“Probably not if you wanted to hear some action.”
I raised my eyebrows, “so my girl didn't lay a finger on her?”
She immediately shook her head. I lift a brow, “not a tiny scratch?”
“None, Justin.”
“Not even the tiniest scratch in the whole wide wor—”
“Shut up!” she rolled her eyes. “I didn't hurt her. Not exactly, though.”
I chuckled as a small smirk snaking to my face. “So you did lay a finger on her?”
Selena licked her lips, wrapping her arms around my waist, and lay her head against my chest. She looked up at me under her long lashes. “I did. But not the way you expected me to.”
I sighed softly and she murmured against my chest. “It went great, Justin. I didn't believe it first, though. But she was awesome. She's funny and easy to get along with, although minus the little bubble of awkwardness floating in the air.”
She was really fun. She was a great friend of mine back then before she screwed it all with me. “Tell me about it.”
“Hmm.” She first positioned herself on my lap, her arm snaking around my neck down to my shoulder, her legs plaid across the couch. “I was not lying to you, I was really meeting up with Taylor, but I just exclude Ariana out so you won't get all worked up.”
She pouts her lips like it's waiting for me to kiss. I shook my head, I need to hear everything first. She scrunched up her nose before resuming, “so yeah, she was a little surprised when she saw there with Taylor. It was awkward. We smiled at each other but we would turn away when we meet each other's gaze. Anyway, she started to discuss stuffs 'bout music, but that's when Taylor's comment came. She kind of told Ariana that we are, um, back together. I had thought about anything that she might do but... squeal.”
I was confused. “What?”
She laughs, “she was happy for us, Justin. Genuinely. I thought it was weird at first but then I start to analyze it, getting a better view of her sincerity. She apologized for what happened, and told me her side. She suffered for it enough, carrying guilt around her for two years. I forgave her. And I guess, we're girlfriends now. She's hella cool.”
“Cool.”
_____
I can't remember why I am wide-awake at 3 a.m. with Selena's cellphone in my hands.
Oh, right.
Charlie Puth kept calling. Her ‘boyfriend’ kept calling at 3 a.m. but Selena's enjoying a slumber party in her sleep. At 3 a.m. it's a jackass to do. Yeah, I did that before but we're not the same. There's a difference.
I was tempted to shake her and tell her that he's calling. But I can't bring myself to interrupt her sleep specially when she looked like a sleeping baby, she's cute.
Finally, I slide a finger across the screen, sighing at myself.
“Hey, I thought you were sleeping,” he chuckled on the other line.
I didn't say anything.
“Hey? Babe? Are you there? I missed you.”
Silence.
“Listen, I'm sorry, okay?” I heard some shuffling, “I was stupid. I let jealousy and immaturity get the best of me. I'm so sorry.”
“Immature jackass,” I muttered silently.
“Selena? Are you there?”
“She's sleeping,” I replied firmly and cold.
I guess it took him by surprise, he silenced for a minute. “Wait, who are you? Where's Sel?”
“It's Justin.” My tone clipped. “She's fine, she's just asleep to accommodate your ever so early phone call.”
“What are you doing with her Bieber?” he was shouting by now. “Did you touch my girl? Oh damn, how long was this going? Fuck you!”
“It—”
“No! You are a fucking asshole to touch my girl—”
“Goodnight, Charlie.” I hang up.
