Freshman year. The year of introducing young teenagers to the ideas of growing up, becoming an adult, and living on their own. By this time everyone has their friends that they've known for years, thinking that they'll never grow apart. They ignore the reality of the unknown that is the future, choosing to believe in their own little fantasies. Who can blame them though? After all, everyone wants to be optimistic with a happy future.
It's the first day back to school and everyone is joining together into their friend groups in the cafeteria to see the friends they haven't spoken with in almost three months of summer vacation. The only problem is, I don't have anyone to join with. I moved here just two weeks ago from my old school in Texas. No one else really knows that though, since of course no one even knows who I am. I don't know who anyone else is.
A deep sigh escapes my lungs. This is going to be a slow year.
