"i'm sorry, but who are you?" he asked and my eyes widened.

please tell me this is a joke...

"it's me, madison." my voice cracked mid-way through my sentence.

"i'm just playing with you. i missed you too, mad." he chuckled and i did too.

"don't ever do that. you scared the heck out of me." i said, as i put my hand over my chest.

"which part should i never do again?" he asked and i bit my bottom lip.

"the nurse told me you didn't remember anything about the accident." i said.

"that's right. i don't." he sighed. "i wish i did though." he mumbled.

i took some time to stare at him. it was like a miracle. one day ago, at this time, he was still sleeping peacefully. one day ago, at this time, i thought i would never see his ocean blue eyes ever again. but one day later, there he was. talking, his eyes shining bright as always and just like the daniel i knew.

"i don't think you want to remember the accident. i know, i don't." i sighed.

"so, when can i get out?" he asked, sitting up and i put my hand on his shoulder, motioning him to lay down again.

"well, you obviously aren't ready right now. you should maybe wait 2 to 3 days. they still have test to do, to see if everything's fine with you." i told him.

"other tests? i've done like 20, only today." he sighed once again and i shrugged my shoulders.

i couldn't wait for him to go home too but i knew he had to pass some tests first. it was better that way anyway, it was better if we knew that he was doing great and going home in 2 days instead of just sending him off home right now and not knowing if he's even ready to get out of the hospital.

"so where are the boys? can i see them?" he asked and i nodded.

"i'll be right back." i said before getting up and walking out of the room. i went in the waiting room where all the boys were. jonah was drinking coffee, which didn't surprise me at all, and jack and corbyn were on their phone. "he wants to see you." i told them and they all walked to his hospital room.

"hi boys!" daniel happily exclaimed and jack literally threw himself on him.

"daniboy, we missed you!" he smiled and daniel chuckled.

"i missed you all too." he answered. "where's zach?" he asked, his eyes scanning through the room.

"who do you think gave you his heart?" i asked him and daniel's mouth hung open, tears building up in his eyes.

"no, don't tell me zach..." he said, tears streaming down his cheeks.

"just kidding, he's in the bathroom." jonah laughed and so did everyone except daniel. he just glared at all of us before also starting to chuckle.

suddenly the door burst open, and a happy zach walked through it. he made his way to daniel's hospital bed and hugged him.

"i missed you so much, daniel." he said and daniel chuckled.

"i missed you too, zach." he said and zach smiled.

"when will you be able to go home?" corbyn cheerfully asked and daniel only stared at me, waiting for me to answer.

"uhm, we don't know yet. it's supposed to be from 2 to 3 days before he's totally ready to go home." i sighed and the boys nodded.

"i can't wait to go back on the road and see the fans!" daniel exclaimed. the boys all exchanged looked and corbyn sighed.
