You would think, after having been lied to so many times in the course of your life, you would know when someone is hiding the truth.

I sure thought I had that ability.

I could not have been more wrong.

Sean's previous arrangement of a tutoring session on a Friday night, was an arrangement I not only had no say in (and was strongly against), but one that was an utter lie.

Why would he be lying you might ask?

Well, turns out, my favorite little ray of sunshine is planning on getting me to walk.

So after our annoyingly long Friday at school, Sean and I are sitting in the dimly lit living room of 'my' house.

That pretty much catches you up on what's happened so far. Let's get to the good stuff, shall we?

"No." I was not going to give in on this one.

"Too bad, you don't have a choice."

"I'm starting to pick that up."

"Well then, now that you've started to come to terms with that one, let's get you up on your feet, shall we?" Sean stood up from the sofa he was previously sitting on and started moving in my direction.

"No, no, no. I'm not doing this!"

Just as I was turning my chair to make my useless attempt of escape (we all know a wheelchair can't beat two jock legs) two hands gripped the armrests of my chair, make me halt.

Sean's face was so close to mine, that I could feel his warm breath on my lips, a grin on his face and his eyes twinkling with mischief."Come on princess, it's your time to shine."

While the sudden lack of distance between shocked me and sent a shiver up my spine, I quickly recovered, responding with my all too famous snarky comments.

Or so I thought.

"But you're the sunshine of the two of us." Really? That's all you got?

"Well then, I guess it's time I share my light with a youngling of the dark side."

Well, that didn't go as planned.

Sean moves his hand off my chair and into mine, slightly tugging at my arm.

"Look, I tried being funny and all, but it doesn't seem to be getting through to you. So let's try it this way. I. Don't. Want. To. Walk." I emphasized every word to make sure it got through that stubborn head of his.

"Really, Princess? You prefer to sit on that chair for the rest of your life?"

"Pretty much, yeah."

"What about your volleyball career? Didn't you want to play through college and then be on the national team? What about that?"

"How do you know about that?" I don't remember even bringing up my past volleyball life.

"That's beside the point. I'm serious Thea. This isn't a joke."

"You think I don't know that?! You think I willingly gave up my entire life?! NO. But I just got used the fact that I'll be sitting in a chair my whole life and I'm not going to put some fairy tale idea in my head that there's the possibility to use my two useless feet again. So thanks, but no." I turned my chair, and head into my room, slamming the door behind me.

In the back of my head, I knew that Sean was only being nice and doing all this out of kindness. But at the moment, I felt everything but grateful to have someone care for me.

I was frustrated to have the one thing I had buried so deep inside me pulled out of me, and rubbed in my face.

I just sat in my room, crying in my pillows until I heard the soft closing of a door, and a few whispers, and then another soft pat of the closing door.

The house was filled with silence for a while until a quiet knock on my door broke it.

"Can I come in?" A soft voice said from the other side of the door which was now slightly open. I give out a mumble of approval and Stacy walks in a sad smile on her face.

There's something soothing about her prescience. She doesn't need to say anything, do anything specific. Just her prescience and her soft touch on your shoulder, her other warm hand rubbing your tense back, is the most soothing act of all.

It's not that she does this consciously. It seems that as soon as she comes up to someone in need, usually that person being me, her mode just switches into this soothing, calming, mode without any hesitation or thought.

And so, we just sat there for who knows how long, Stacy sitting beside me and me crying into her once dry shoulders.

The days following Sean and I's... argument were filled with silence. Neither willing to break the silence that had emerged a few days ago.

Now yes, I do admit that we were never really the best of friends, but in my short time at Collins High, he had opened up and we had become closer.

We had made enough progress to make the rest of our friends suspicious.

While they all had their theories some of which including Eric's theory that Sean said something offensive thus ruining our budding friendship (his words not mine).

My favorite, however, came from none other than Noah Parks. His theory, while highly unlikely made me laugh, something I truly needed.

"You know I think I know what's going on." His tone and face expressions have become a sign to us that something random is about to leave that mouth of his.

He clears his throat in preparation for his eye-opening speech. "Sean and Thea were previously dating in secret and now Thea has dumped Sean's sorry butt and now we have the situation we are now awkwardly witnessing."

At first, just like anytime Noah says something, our eyes blankly staring at his face. Then slowly, a trickle of slow claps emerges from the various sides of our oddly large table.

"Noah. I think this is your best theory yet. How did you come up with such a thing?" Eric's voice is drenched in sarcasm yet somehow Noah is dry as a bone.

"I mean all the signs are obvious. We saw them being distant and then they became close and now it's like it never happened. Plus one is doing better than the other, which is an obvious hint at a harsh dumping." Noah seems to have taken his theory far too seriously as he continues on and on about Sean and I's "secret relationship" even when none of us could care less.

The rest of the day goes by quietly. And I mean this literally. Sean and I had the rest of our classes together without any of our other friends so the walks were filled with silence and the classes with the never-ending tapping of Sean's pencil.

After school, Seans drops me by the parking lot and walks over to his newly washed car (something I had made him do just before our fight).

Taking out my phone, I wait for Stacy to come over and take me away from the taunting buildings.

"Why so alone?" A familiar voice asks from behind. Over the past few months, this soft voice has become so comforting and familiar to me. A smile crawls on my face as I turn my chair to face my motherly figure.

"You've set the bar so high, I don't just give anyone the pleasure of my company."

Giggles escape our curved up mouths as we make our way to the car and far away from this terrible day.

A/N: YOOOOO IT'S BEEN LIKE AGES. I am sincerely sorry for the incredibly long wait for this short chapter but I hope you enjoy! School started for me and so my time has been focused on not failing and I just haven't had the time to write. Therefore please excuse the terrible writing.

Anyways, I'll see you guys soon!
