"Thea! How are you feeling today?" My tall, handsome , married (to my misfortune) doctor walks into the room, just like every other day, to check up on me.

"I'm wonderful! More than well enough to be discharged, in fact!" Just as he does his usual check in, I throw in my usual plead of release.

"Well then it's your lucky day, Thea. Your being discharged today."

"Look, doc, I know you are all worried abo- what?! I'm being discharged?! For real??" I started to rant at him about how I'm totally fine, just as I usually do, not expecting what left his mouth.

"You've spent two years with us, and we think your doing well enough to go back. Of course, you need to be on a wheel chair, but other than that you get to go back to normal."

"Remind me again how a girl in a wheelchair is normal?"

"I did say *other* than that." I sigh, sad, that I won't be able to be my energetic self once again, but glad to be let out of my "home" for the past two years.

"Where am I going to stay though? I don't have anyone..." My excitement over my release slowly fades away as I realize that I have no home or family to return to.

"Um.. we thought about that, and we have contacted the new high school you are going to be attending, and one of the teachers has offered to foster you."

"I am not an orphan." I say through gritted teeth.

"I never said that. You aren't even in the system Thea, you know that. You need someone to take care of you, and a extremely nice teacher offered to do just that. You are in no way an orphan."

"Fine." I've always hated being considered an orphan. It makes me feel useless.

"Hey! Brighten up! It's the day you have been counting down to! Kiara is going to freshen you up and get you ready. Ms. Carlos is going to be here in 30 minutes to pick you up. Don't forget to say bye to me before you leave. And make a round if you can." He gives me a wink before leaving.

"Thanks doc." I give him a wave. Kiara, my favorite nurse of all time and my absolute best friend, walks in just as the doc heads out. "Kiara! My bestie!"

"Thea! My bestie!" She gives me a hug before getting my wheel chair to help me down from the bed. "How are ya feeling today? Excited to leave?"

"What do you think girl. I've been counting down the days to get out of here." She chuckles at my excitement. "I am going to miss you all though. I'll make sure to visit everyday!"

"Hey, if you visit everyday, what's the point of leaving. What about once a week for lunch? Saturdays? We have the best food on Saturdays." She suggests with a wink.

I nod in reply, and tell her its a plan. It only takes a few minutes to get my stuff, so I do as doc suggested, and make my rounds of the day to say bye to the friends I have made these past two years.

My goodbye resulted in some tears, but what's a goodbye without some tears, am I right?

After settling everything and saying goodbye to doc, Kiara wheels me out to the front of the hospital, even after me insisting that I can go on my own.

When we arrived at the waiting area at the front of the hospital, I searched around looking for someone that could be the Ms. Carlos I was going to stay with.

My heart lit up when I saw a young, beautiful, kind-looking woman, walking over to me.

"You must be Thea! I'm Stacy Carlos, or Ms. Carlos at school." She stretches her hand out for me to shake. I accept it, a smile creeping on my face. I like her.

I say my final goodbyes to Kiara, promising to visit everyday Saturday just as we had promised, and then with Stacy's help, I wheel out of the hospital, turning around to see the words I have become so familiar to, one last time.

The Royal London Hospital.
