- 6 days later-
Maddy showed up at David's house for yet another party.
"MADDY!" Gabbie yelled across the room as she entered.
She smiled and headed over to Gabbie, who was standing with Liza.
"You're level headed and intelligent" Gabbie said.
"Thank you?"
"Is Florida a part of the south?"
"Like, did they side with the confederacy?"
"No, like would you consider them the south?"
"Northern Florida yes but south Florida no. That's its own place."
"That was the least satisfying answer you could have given." Liza said.
The girls laughed. Liza got distracted saying hello to someone else, and eventually walked away.
"Is she officially dating that Keegan guy?" Maddy asked. "I haven't talked to her about it, I keep meaning to ask"
"Yeah, I think for about 3 months?"
"He seems really nice"
"I just feel so bad for David. I don't think he processed it as a permanent break up"
"He definitely didn't"
"I think he's getting over it pretty well though. I saw he had tinder re-downloaded earlier"
"Damn, go David!" Maddy said. She made a mental note to ask him about it later.
Gabbie remembered a story she wanted to tell Maddy, and the two changed the subject. A couple of hours later, Maddy got tired and went home.
"Have you seen Maddy?" David asked Heath.
"Yeah she left about half an hour ago, why?"
David frowned a bit.
"I didn't even see her"
"Were you looking for her?" Heath smiled, nudging David.
"No, Heath, seriously no. Don't make it like that, I was drunk and it was an isolated incident"
"David, level with me here buddy"
"No, honestly, I've actually been on tinder"
"Good for you, baby" Heath said, patting David on the back.
David looked over towards his couch and saw Liza and Keegan sitting next to each other, Keegan with his arm around her. He was surprised to see that it hurt less than it had in the past. In fact, it hardly phased him. Is this moving on? He thought to himself, feeling a pang of guilt for not feeling any certain way about Liza's new relationship. He turned his attention back to Heath, making plans to film with him the next day before leaning against his counter and scrolling through his phone. He pulled up his texts with Maddy and typed out a message.
David: Did you make it home safe?
Maddy: Yes! Sorry for dipping early I'm exhausted
David: No worries (:
Maddy: Cool smiley, very avant-garde in today's apple emoji society
David: Thank you, finally someone understands
David contemplated keeping the conversation going after Maddy didn't reply for a few minutes, and eventually slid his phone back into his pocket, cleaning up before going to bed.
It hurts to say, but I want you to stay (Someday - The Strokes)
