-5 days later-
David arrived at Maddy's apartment at 7pm to get some vlog footage after he found out she was dog sitting for a friend who had a new puppy. He arrived and filmed the dog for a little before eventually ending up sitting on Maddy's bed as the dog took a nap on the dog bed on the floor.
"So I see you've been on tinder" Maddy laughed as she turned her phone towards David. He had superliked her, a running joke in their friend group was to superlike any friend you found on tinder.
"Yeah, for about a week"
"And how's that been going?"
"I haven't met up with anyone, if that's what you're asking"
"David! Why not?"
"Nobody has caught my attention"
"You might need to change your expectations a little"
"I don't think I have the bar set that high"
Maddy shrugged.
"It might be a little low if you superliked me, actually"
David laughed a little and smiled. Maddy didn't notice his change in tune.
"I think i'd rather meet the person first. I don't know if I like this whole dating app thing as much as I used to"
"Yeah, I get that. I haven't been on a tinder date in ages because half the time I end up sitting in some bar with some dude that I don't want to ever see again yet feel obligated to at least finish the date with. It kind of sucks"
"And you were trying to roast me for not meeting up with anyone?"
Maddy shrugged and laughed.
"What are you looking for, anyway?"
"A relationship"
"Besides that" Maddy said, waving her hand as if to dismiss the comment.
"Like, in a girlfriend?"
"Yeah, I guess"
"Someone I can get along with"
"Are you gonna elaborate on that?" Maddy laughed.
"Someone funny who doesn't mind my career and is up to do random shit. So I guess willing to try new things.... I would like for my friends to like them. I would say I would date someone who's not a youtuber but I don't even know if that would work scheduling-wise"
"So you want to date a youtuber?"
"Maybe"
"Anyone in particular?"
"Not necessarily"
"Nobody?"
"Not nobody I mean, there are people I would date"
"Spill"
"Any female who meets those requests? I don't have anyone in mind"
"Ok" Maddy laughed. "I'll keep an eye out"
"You don't have to do that"
"I'd get them approved by you first, of course"
"Well don't look too hard or too far" David smiled.
"Maybe i'll capitalize off of it and make a youtube series. Give Shane Dawson a run for his money"
"Oh god, please don't"
"Fine"
David was quiet as Maddy talked about redecorating her room, wondering if he should tell her about the feeling he had that he was into her. It took him a while to officially process it and admit it to himself, but he could now say with confidence (to himself only, of course) that he had a crush on her.
"Madison?" He asked as she stopped talking.
"Who?"
"You? No?"
Maddy shook her head.
"Just Maddy?"
"Nope"
"Madden"
"David what the fuck? Like the football video game?"
"What the fuck is your full name?"
"Madeleine? You didn't know that?"
"Your name isn't Madison?"
"No?"
"Huh, I guess I just assumed." He paused for a moment. "Madeleine?"
"Don't call me that"
"You are so fucking annoying" David laughed, as Maddy did an ironic whip, making David roll his eyes.
"What about you?" He asked.
"What do you mean?"
"What are you looking for?"
"You know, I don't really know if i'm even looking"
"Oh, come on"
"I guess someone I feel comfortable with"
"Is it easy for you to feel comfortable with people?"
"Um... I guess it's not hard. I mean, I feel comfortable with guys but then other factors come into play"
"Like what?"
"If i'm attracted to them. If they're single. If they're looking for someone. If it works out, I don't know"
"Who are you the most comfortable with? Maybe that would help to narrow it down trait-wise"
Maddy was quiet for a moment, looking up and thinking.
"Honestly?" She laughed. "You"
