-1 month later-
Everyone arrived at Zane's place and pregamed and filed, or rather, stumbled, onto a party bus and made their way to the club. Maddy slowed her drinking for the night as David drank more than he had at the pregame once they arrived. About an hour in, Maddy stood talking to Zane at the edge of the dance floor before leaving for a moment to go to the bathroom.
"Did you know I love Maddy?" David asked, leaning over to Zane.
"I do too" He said.
"No, like, I love Maddy"
Zane looked at Carly, who was also standing near the two. She raised her eyebrows at Zane.
"I can tell her" David continued.
"I don't know if-"
"Yeah, yeah, I won't" He said, and continued dancing (poorly) with his other friends.
By the end of the night, David was sitting on the curb outside of the club with Erin.
"Someone's gonna need to take him home" Erin said as the rest of the group came out.
"I don't even have a couch for him to sleep on" Heath said.
"He lives so far out of the way, too" Carly noted.
"I got it, if you guys are willing to help me get him inside my place. My couch is comfortable and close by" Maddy said, looking towards Zane and Heath, who both lived close to her.
"Yeah, that works" Heath said.
Maddy kneeled down in front of David.
"Can you order an uber to my place?" Maddy asked Zane, handing her phone over.
"One minute away" Zane said.
"Hey, David, the uber is almost here, ok?"
"I can get up"
"Well my ass" Maddy began, putting her hand on her chest. "Certainly isn't carrying you"
The uber arrived and Maddy half pushed David in to get him moving. David sat against the window with Maddy in the middle and Heath next to her, and Zane sat in the front seat.
"I have something to say" David announced.
"Go for it" Heath encouraged him.
"I love you Maddy" David said, putting his head on her shoulder.
"I love you too"
"No, like, I love you"
Maddy looked over at Heath. Zane was filming. Maddy laughed.
"Yeah?" Maddy asked, looking down at him.
"I think so."
"Huh" Maddy said, laughing again and looking at her phone.
By the time they got to Maddy's place, David was on his phone scrolling through instagram. Zane and Heath followed David and Maddy into the apartment. Maddy filmed Zane and Heath helping David into the bed, then filmed herself plugging in his phone, putting a bottle of water next to him, and tucking him in. She then filmed Zane and Heath kissing him on the head, and herself turning off the lights and closing the door. Zane and Heath both cracked up at the footage while Maddy went back into her room, took clothes into her bathroom, and changed into pajamas, eventually walking out to where Zane and Heath were and closing her closing her door behind her.
"But seriously, what the fuck was that in the uber?" She asked, pointing back at the door.
Zane and Heath snickered at Maddy's bewildered face.
"He said it to me earlier too" Zane said.
"So he's just in an affectionate mood?"
"I mean, affectionate towards you. He told me he loved you"
"God. Does he get this drunk often?"
"Never" Zane said.
"I wouldn't drink either if I confessed my love for my friends when I did" Heath shrugged, making Zane and Maddy laugh.
"Do me a favor and don't put that on youtube without asking him" Maddy said.
"I think that was more of a personal memory anyway. I can't believe he said that, though?"
"You know what? Not my problem" Maddy said putting her hands up in defeat and walking to her couch.
"You're seriously gonna sleep on your own couch?"
"Versus waking up and finding out he fell off the couch and broke his collarbone?"
"Ok, true"
"Goodnight guys" She said, laying on her couch and pulling a blanket over her head.
Zane and Heath laughed.
"Goodnight baby" Zane said, turning the light off and shutting the door behind them.
