Chapter 5: Meeting the guys

Shirayuki's POV

It has been nearly 3 years since I joined the Phantom Troupe. I was the unofficial member of the Troupe so I didn't need to get the tattoo that everyone else had and I got to pick which missions I would be in. Most of the time it was simple tasks like infiltration and me deceiving people to get their trust, but I didn't really enjoy having to lie to someone to get information, but it was still better than having to steal or kill someone.

I have also been trained in the art of using nen, I'm a specialist and I can strengthen my skin in battle, summon objects for battle, and increase my strength, speed, endurance, etc.

It was early in the afternoon and Hisoka came over to me with his usual expression, that signature smile that left me either wanting to punch his face or smile back, depends what he wanted to say.

"What is it this time Hisoka? Can't you see I'm busy," I said to the man dressed as a clown while pointing to the sleeping figure of Chrollo on my shoulder? He looked at Chrollo sleeping and giggled "he should be more careful where he sleeps, what if someone tried to kill him?" he said sarcastically. "That's where I come in. You should know this by now, Hisoka, those who go after him, have to go through me first." he laughed this time. "Why do you treat him like he's a child Shirayuki? I mean, I know your technicality the oldest here but you're in a form of a 15-year-old girl. And what's worse he's a criminal, and you used to protect the world from people like him, why not just get rid of him?" he asked. "He saved my life from being in ice for another century. If it were not for him Id probably still be there."

"Tell me. What do you want? Why did you come over to me?"
"Oh right. I completely forgot. I came to tell Chrollo I'm leaving for a while. Tell him I'm going to take the hunter exam." he said. "Huh, what is the hunter exam?" I asked, not knowing or ever hearing about it.

"Ah, did Chrollo nor any of the others tell you about it? Well, dear Shirayuki, the hunter exam is a very difficult test to get something called a hunters licence. It allows the person access to 80% of the world, public facilities to be free and the jobs you do will get you a lot of money, that money can be used for anything." he answered. "Wow, that must come very useful, but why did Chrollo not tell me about it?" I asked. "Because I didn't want you to go it get hurt," Chrollo said. "Ah, I didn't know you were awake," I said surprised. "The hunter exam is not only dangerous but it can change people, I should know," he said sadness in his eyes. "Is that why you didn't want me to go? Because you were afraid I would change?" I asked fearfully. "Yes, I don't want you to change one bit, Shirayuki, you mean too much to me." I blushed and looked away. And then back at him. "You shouldn't worry. I have both Hisoka and my powers to protect me. And in the last 3 years, my nen has gotten so much stronger and better."

Chrollo's POV

I looked at Shirayuki, into her acidic green eyes and said, "alright I'll let you go, as long as Hisoka is with you, I know I can trust him to protect you. Hisoka, look after her. And mark my word, if something happens to her, you know what will happen." There was a very terrifying aura around Chrollo, one that meant death to the person who caused it.

"Don't worry, she will be safe. My friend, Illumi Zoldyck will be there as well." I suddenly had a huge smile on my face, I had met Illumi a couple of times, even though he was weird and emotionless, he was quite a joker and really strong. When he first saw me his eyes went wide-eyed as my aura and powers impressed him. Hisoka told me that was the first time he saw him have any kind of reaction towards someone, not even his family.

"Alright, fine, you may go, but be back as soon as possible," Chrollo told me. "Goodbye, I'll be back soon," I told him after I was done getting everything I need for the exam.
