Chapter 6: Hunter exam 1

Shirayuki's POV

The man with a moustache introduced himself as satotz and told us that he was the examiner for the first phase of the hunter exam. He told us that the first phase will be to keep up with him, and then he started to run at the speed of a cheetah.

I was disappointed, to say the least. Instead of running, I got out my wings of fire and flew over the rest of the people.

They looked at me in awe. They were truly shocked to see I had wings, and that they were made of fire. There was some who looked at me instead of my wings, they were probably mesmerised by my beauty.

As I was flying above everyone I saw the tall man, leorio, talking, no screaming at the white-haired boy I met earlier, killua. I landed behind them and ran after them listening to what they are saying.

"Hey, kid, you can't be on that skateboard. This is an endurance test." leorio said to killua. "Huh, no it's not." replied killua. "Satotz told us to follow him, he didn't say how." Gon said to Leorio.

Killua then approached gon with his skateboard. "Hi, I'm killua, what's your name?" Killua asked Gon. "I'm gon. How old are you? I'm 12!" Gon said enthusiastically. "I'm also 12." He replied, and then looked behind him and saw me. He was more than shocked to see I had wings covered in fire. Gon noticing killua staring looked back and saw me as well.

Gon's face light up and he ran straight to me, hugging me. He then noticed my wings and said. "Wow, you have wings?! Are they real? Can I touch them?" He said, question after question. "Yes, they are real, but I wouldn't touch them if I was you. They could burn you."

I told Gon and he stared at me with amazement and awe. Killua then approached us and told me. "Hey, Shirayuki, it's nice to see you again." Gon then asked me. "How old are you, Shirayuki?" I replied with, "I'm 15." Kurapika then joined in the conversation saying he was 17 years old. But what shocked me was the fact that Leorio is actually only 19 but looks like he's 30 at least.

Gon then asked me, "Can you fly me and killua around, Shirayuki?" I told him, "Sure, just don't get too close to my wings."

I flew them back and forth above the people who were running. Some of them looked really jealous of us as we didn't have to run. After a while, I lowered them to the ground and they began to run with the others.

We were getting close to where we needed to be at. As I could already see light at the end of the tunnel, but all of a sudden we approached staircases that kept going up with no ending and everyone started to run up the stairs. I followed after everyone, flying up with almost no effort.

As we were nearing the finish, I heard Killua say, "I'm surprised you two can keep up with me. How about we have a race to see who can finish first. The people who lose buy the winner lunch." I smirked and said, "deal." I was soo going to win this! "I'm in as well." Gon said in his over-enthusiastic voice.

We began to all hurry past everyone around us. I was in the lead with killua behind me, Gon being neck-a-neck with Killua.

Just as Satotz crossed the line I flew in front of him with Killua and Gon finishing at the same time. "Yes, I won! I still expect that lunch you said you would treat me to." I told both the boys and the turned to Satotz to ask who finished first between them. He told them that the finished in a tie, so they both agreed to treat me to lunch.

While Satotz was speaking to Gon and Killua, his eyes never left me, not ever for a second. I could tell he knew what I was capable of and that it made him wary of me.

When the remaining examiners had got there. Satotz explained how the first phase was still not over as we had to get through the Numere Wetlands. He told us how it was a dangerous place as it liked to trick those who entered. The wetlands are also home to numerous beasts, mysterious creatures, and deadly plants.
