Sharkie Mason's P.O.V - District 7

"It's fine Mum." I say as she fixes my hair again.
"I just want you to look perfect. Even if you don't get picked all the cameras will be on you." She replies.
My Mum is one of the most famous victors. She won a long time ago, before the rebellion. She was a quiet tribute and she pretended that she didn't know how to fight but when there were two tributes left she revealed her true colours. She is known for her skills with an axe. Since I was young, she has trained me to be just like her. So in case I ever get picked, I'll be ready.
We have to get to the reaping extra early because my Mum is a victor. When I get there I see the Mayor is already there. So is his daughter Felicia. Felicia is the most popular girl in the school and all the guys want to date her, including me, even though I am 14 and she is 15. I don't even realise I'm staring at her until she picks up on it and glares at me. Well that couldn't have been any more embarrassing. I stand with my mum until the reaping begins.

Felicia Carroll's P.O.V - District 7

I stand with my friend Sapphire. I love my life. At my school I am the queen. All the boys want to date me, all the girls want to be my friend. I am the richest person in district 7 and I have a line of people that would die to volunteer for me if I was chosen to go into the games.
Adelaide Palm, our district escort, walks onto stage. She is dressed as a tree to represent district 7.
"Hello boys and girls, welcome to the 99th Hunger Games!" She says. "Let's start with the girls." She picks a slip from the girls reaping bowl. "Felicia Carroll." I smile and wonder who will volunteer for me. The peacekeeper pushes through the crowd and grabs my arm to pull me up to the stage.
"What are you doing?" I laugh. "Somebody is going to volunteer for me."
"Dream on princess this is district 7." Replies the peacekeeper.
"Someone! Hellooo? Volunteer for me now!" I snap at my friends who are backing away from me. How could they do this to me? I thought they were my friends.
I'm pulled onto stage my the peacekeepers.
"Oh look at that you're the Mayor's daughter! That will make things interesting!" Says Adelaide. I scoff. It will make things interesting alright. All the Capitol people will vote for me! I'll get all the sponsors like Finnick Odair did. I will win like Finnick Odair did.

Sharkie Mason's P.O.V - District 7

Im in shock. Nobody volunteered for her. She is not trained, she will die.
"Casper Wall!" I'm snapped back to reality when Adelaide calls the boy's name.
A pathetic little boy walks to the stage. Then an idea dawns on me.
"I volunteer!" I yell.
I will make Felicia love me. I will protect her. She will win and she will realise that I helped her. She will fall in love with me.
I look confident as I walk to the stage.
"What's your name and age?" Asks Adelaide.
"I am Sharkie Mason and I am 14."
"Sharkie Mason? Johanna Mason's son?"
"Correct!"
"Well then! Do you think you will live up to your family's expectations?"
"I sure hope so." I grin. I know I probably won't win, because I want Felicia to win.

Teddy Clearwater's P.O.V - District 8

Mother gathers all my brothers and sisters, desperately trying to keep the young ones close. I am the second eldest of eight and I am 17. Eight is our family's lucky number, eight kids, district eight and both my mother and father were born on the 8th. We live in poverty, especially with eleven of us living in this 3 bedroom house.
Isa, one of my sisters, takes my hand. Isa is 12, and secretly my favourite sibling.
"I'm scared." She whispers.
"Don't be scared, you won't be picked." I reply.
"I'm not scared for me, I'm scared for our family. Four of us are eligible for the reaping now. There is a good chance one of us will go in." She states.
I've never thought about that. Isa is 12, my twin brothers, Emen and Rhye are 15, and me, 17.
"We will be fine." I try to assure my sister that we will be okay, but even I hear the fear in my voice.
We all walk to the reaping together and take our places in our age sections. I pray that my family will make it through this reaping, and all of the reapings to come.
