Sonny Webster's P.O.V - District 10

"Done." I say as I tie the ribbon on my little sister's dress. "Ready?"
"Yep." Today we are having a feast at our farm with the rest our family like we do every reaping day. A few at a time the guests arrive. My uncle, my grandfather and my oldest sister, all bringing a plate of overpriced food that probably cost them a fortune.
"Hello my little sunshine!" Yells my grandfather giving me a big sloppy kiss on my cheek.
"Hi Pa." I reply, discretely wiping my cheek.
"Bobby's first reaping huh? You'll be fine sweetheart." He says to my little sister. I stroke her head and begin towards the back door.
"You aren't staying?" Asks Pa.
"I have a few jobs to do, but I'll be back, don't worry."
I run down to the back paddock, holding my dress up so it doesn't trail through the think mud.
I am greeted by my horse Toppa at the paddock. I jump onto his bare white back and ride him down to a waterfall at the back of our property.
I sit in the beautiful clearing, watching the water slide from rock to rock before splashing into the water below. That's when I hear the voices.
"Haha. Shhhhh. This is somebody's property they could hear us." A boy laughs.
"Where do we go?" I hear another say. The voices are getting closer.
"The lake is that way I hear the waterfall."
I lead Toppa out of the clearing as quickly and quietly as I can and crouch in a bush so I can watch from the tree line.
Two guys come out into the clearing dragging a girl. She has her hands and feet tied up and duct tape over her mouth. She is kicking and punching but the ropes are holding her back. I've seen this girl around before. She is always flirting with guys and has a different boyfriend everyday. I think her name is Lammy or Lassy or something.
"You try to hit me one more time I'll cut your entire fucking arm off right now!" The bigger one yells. The smaller one rips the duct tape off the girls mouth and holds her underwater, the bigger one joins in. The dunk her underwater several times but always bring her up for air just before she passes out. The smaller one stops and walks back to the grass, meanwhile the bigger boy continues the game.
"Dude what are you doing?" Yells the smaller one. "We don't want to kill her!" He is screaming now. "Thunder stop!"
"I don't take orders from you! Ok?" He screams back. The girl finally stops squirming. She lies still, dead. "Hahahaha! Oh shit! Let's go quick!" They run out of the clearing, back the way the came from.
As soon as I can be sure they are gone, I run over to the girl and drag her out of the water, she's not breathing, she has no pulse, she's dead. I scream and step away from her. I go to leave but then I realise, people might think I did this, if they find her on my property I could be accused of murder. This has to be kept a secret, nobody can ever find out about this. I drag her deep into the water and go back to Toppa. I ride her back to her paddock and make my way back to the house.
"What happened!" Yells my mum. Oh no, does she know about the girl? I say nothing, just in case I've misread this. "You're saturated and covered in mud!" She yells. I breathe a sigh of relief.
"Oh yeah, I tripped in a puddle." I lie.
She sighs. "Ok, well let's get you cleaned up." Says my mother leading me into the bathroom,
She finds me a new dress, brushes through my wet hair and does it up in pretty curls on the top of my head just in time for the reaping. We walk to the square together, my mother, brother, sister and I. When we get there I go to the 15 year old section. I scan the sea of faces in the square trying to find the boys from the woods today, but they are nowhere to be seen. Maybe they are over eighteen.
Meadow Leda, our district escort takes stage. "Hello district 10!" She yells. She is dressed like a cow this year, loser. "Ladies first!" She shuffles her hand around the the bowl and picks out a name. "Sonny Webster!" She yells. "Ha ha!" She exclaims. "I know you, your father owns that farm." She says once I get to the stage. I nod. "So, your 15?" She asks. I nod. "You don't say much now, do you?" I shake my head. She laughs. "Let's move onto the boys." She picks out a name. "Al-"
"I volunteer!"
No no no! The boy! It's the boy who killed the girl in the woods. I tense up. I didn't want to go into the games at all, let alone with him. Then I realise, he didn't see me in the woods. I'm going to be ok, he doesn't know that I know.
"What's your name?" Asks Meadow.
"Thunder Lutz." He grins deviously.
