Avalon Wolcott's P.O.V - Capitol Interviewer
"Two minutes people." Says the head camera man. I sit with my co-host Marmelaide Weisstein. I am extremely excited to finally see this year's tributes in costume and getting into the Hunger Games spirit. "Five, Four, Three, Two, One and ACTION!"
"Hello Panem! Welcome to the 99th annual Hunger Games. I am so excited to finally get a good look at this year's tributes! What about you Marmelaide?" I beam.
"Yes, this is definitely the most exciting time of year. The tributes, the games, the costumes, the interviews, there is so much going on!"
"Yes, yes, and speaking of tributes here they come now!"
"Wow don't they look lovely!"
"District one are dressed in lovely fur coats and look at that bling!"
"Yes! That really is magnificent isn't it. And here comes district two! Dressed as a king and a queen! I love it!"
"Yes the crowd seems to love it too by the sound of it!"
"Hahaha yes, yes, and behind them is district three, dressed in what looks like electric cables! Wow that's an interesting choice!"
"Wow you never know what will happen next in the Capitol." I laugh.
"Next up is district four dressed as a mermaid and a fisherman. Nothing we haven't seen before."
"And behind them! District five that's pretty impressive hahaha look at that!"
"Wow they are dressed as suns!"
"I guess that relates to their district, they are the district of power and a large percentage of our electricity comes from the sun."
"M hmm, and oh my gosh! What is that!"
"That looks like district six. WOW, that stylist really knows how to draw attention to somebody!"
"They are dressed as working traffic lights! How creative!"
"Indeed it is Marmelaide."
"Next we have district seven, the lumberjack district, always exciting."
"This year it looks like they are Christmas trees! Isn't that adorable!"
"It sure is Avalon."
"Here comes district eight, dressed in the finest rags and cloths." I laugh.
"Indeed Avalon, nothing new there. But I've got to say district nine sure is something new. What is that little scene meant to be?"
"It looks like Cheetah is dressed as a cheetah!"
"And Kermit is hunting her."
"That is very creative but I just don't see how it relates to the grain district."
"Yes that's a bit odd, but moving on. Next is district ten, the cattle district."
"They are dressed as jockeys! That's something new, a very interesting twist there isn't it."
"Sure is."
"Oh and here comes the last chariots, eleven and twelve."
"I would imagine that district eleven would have a wide range of sponsors already, Missy is absolutely adorable and poor Denver who's deaf."
"Yes and also, this district is dressed as scarecrows, which is funny because they are the opposite of scarecrows. They are just so sweet."
"Yes yes now let's move onto our final chariot, district twelve."
"Dressed as coal miners they look lovely don't they."
"Yes, they look wonderful."
"This year's tributes seem to look very interesting, I can't wait for the interviews where we will see their true colours."
"An yes, the interviews, everybody's favourite."
"This has been your tribute parade for the 99th Hunger games! Now over to your leader! the wonderful President Noir!" I finish. President Noir advances to the microphone and begins her speech.
"Welcome, welcome. Tributes, we welcome you to the 99th annual Hunger Games. In two weeks we will have a lone victor, so we salute your courage and your sacrifice. And we wish you Happy Hunger Games, may the odds be ever in your favour."
I watch as the tributes depart from the theatre, some with their faces painted with excitement and others with fear. This will be a good year.
