Chapter 10
I awoke the next day with a slight hangover but nothing that Advil couldn’t kill. I remained in bed thinking about Caleb and what had happened, starting with his words. They were heartfelt and he truly had expressed what he thought of me. He was attracted to me I thought, and I really was being hard on him. I got tingly thinking about our make-out session. Our chemistry was incredible and things could have gone further had I not pulled away. I put my pillow over my face and screamed. And what about Jensen? I found him adorable. A gentleman that I share things in common with, whom genuinely wants to get to know me. I feel a connection between us but where could it go? He was leaving for college after summer. And Ivan? That was simple…I felt nothing anymore. My gut was telling me that as nice and cute as he was that he would just be too clingy. Maybe that was not a fair assessment, but frankly my feelings were stronger for Jensen and Caleb. Ivan had not even showed up at the party. Surely if he was really interested in me he would have.
I got up and showered, and dressed for my work- out. I headed out my door but didn’t get very far because I bumped into Sabra coming out of Caleb’s room, clearly doing the walk of shame. Are you fricken kidding me? What a fricken pig! He came clean with his feelings towards me, and we had shared that incredible passionate moment, and then he sleeps with Sabra?
Caleb followed her out, and was like a deer caught in the headlights when he saw me there. “Oh escuse me,” she said in a thick accent. She looked rough, not as beautiful as I had remembered her, but then again who looks beautiful the day after. I didn’t even bother to say anything to her, but I did manage to give Caleb a look from hell. How could he? He had no expression on his face and just looked down. I made way down the stairs and out the door.
I would never waste my time even thinking twice about him again, and to think that I believed his sincerity last night about me. Screw him, and with that I decided to meet Jensen at the park after all. I got to the park and saw Jensen jogging and I caught up to him. “Hey,” he said out of breath, “I thought you were not going to make it.” I changed my mind I said, smiling. He smiled and we finished jogging in silence.
We took a spot under a shaded tree and started stretching. “I am glad you came after all. Last night was a good time,” he said. We talked about where I wanted to go to College after I graduated this year, which honestly I had to make a decision about that, but I was not sure yet. It was so easy talking to Jensen. “Here, let me stretch you out he said.” He got up and told me to lie on my back. He grabbed one of my legs up and pulled it as far back as I would let him. Signaling a groan. Aww, Aww I said while laughing. I was in a compromising position, but all I could do was laugh. It really did feel good.
He grabbed my other leg and did the same. This time he said playfully, “I will pull your leg back further if you don’t accept going on a date with me.” I laughed at him and said, “oh, you don’t have to threaten me, that’s a no brainer,” and with that, he said, “awesome.” “I will pick you up at 7. I have been wanting to try Opus Bistro.” I had heard of Opus Bistro…that it was expensive, and excellent. Sounds great Jensen. Well I better run and get back to cleaning the house. See you later.
I walked to my house with a big smile on my face. Jensen really was a nice guy and so easy on the eyes. I smelled bleach as soon as I walked in the house and saw Caleb cleaning up sticky left over beer that covered the kitchen counter. Once again he had taken it upon himself to clean the house. Why are you cleaning? You don’t have too. I threw this party with Bailey I said as I picked up some empty beer bottles. “Cleaning, believe it or not, relaxes me, he said. It allows me to think while I do something so mundane.”
“Cali, about this morning, it’s not what you think.” Listen here Caleb, it’s not my business. You can screw whoever you want, whenever you want. “It’s not like that," he said. "She came to the party late, already shit faced, and would not leave my side. She really needed to pass out because she could barely stand up. I put her in my bed because there was nowhere else to put her. The couches were taken up and”….Say no more, I said loudly. You expect me to believe that? “It’s the truth,” he said. “I would have done that for any girl.”
