Chapter 2

Bailey pulled up just as I walked out the door. I filled her in on the shenanigans that went on that day and she already knew. “Oh, I know already, everybody is talking about the mooning incident that took place at the graduation. It’s all over Facebook and I got like 5 phone calls about it already.” “You should see them Bailey, they are acting like they are rock stars.” I rolled my eyes thinking about Caleb and how he got under my skin and how he would be living with us for the summer. I shared that bit of news with Bailey and she just about hit a tree.

“What? The whole summer? Are you kidding me? THE Caleb Benzy sleeping in your house? OMG! You are the luckiest girl in the world.” “Earth to Bailey,” I yelled. I stopped her short from drooling all over her steering wheel. She started laughing, “ok, so I got carried away,” she said.

“He knows he is hot Bailey.” “Well he is Cali. Duh!” “It’s just the way he acts that bothers me,” I said. Inside I was hurt that all these years that he has been coming to my house I was not good enough to be spoken too or worthy of his hotness most likely. And now he has the nerve to bless me with his presence. Not even, more like tease the shit out of me. Whatever, I brushed all thoughts of his beautiful face aside and changed the subject. I would show him.

We got to the mansion and it was fantastic. The party was exclusive and by invitation only. Waiters were running around with appetizers and the judge had even hired taxis to wait outside the mansion for prevention of driving under the influence. About a half hour later, the boys showed up in the limo that they had rented to take them to the party. They were grinning from ear to ear clearly all liquored up at this point. Bailey and I found ourselves at the bar ordering rum and cokes, our favorites. We scanned the scene and it was your usual clicks gathered in different corners of the patio. It didnt ever bother me because I really got along with everyone and had no angst against any particular click. The boys were making the rounds high fiving everyone recounting their infamous mooning stuntt blah, blah, blah. God they could be so immature.

Come on Bailey lets go dance. We went inside and the living room had professionally been converted into a dance floor with a disco ball, D.J. and lights. Must be nice to be swimming in money I thought. The dance floor started to get packed and it was awesome. It felt like we were at a real club. The music was current and really good and we knew every song. Bailey and I were dancing with each other until this guy Drake came from behind and started dancing with Bailey. She gave me a look but I told her it was ok. I mouthed that I was going to get us new drinks and she mouthed back o.k. I went outside to the bar and just my luck Caleb was there. One of the bartenders looked at me and I said, “2 rum and cokes please.”

Caleb turned around and looked at me, “If it isn’t Skylar’s little sister.” Ugh! I started to turn red and could feel myself getting angry. If there was one thing I could not stand was being called Skylar’s little sister by any of his friends. I was only one year younger damn’t. I took the rum and cokes and walked away. “Wait,” said Caleb as he grabbed my arm. “Geez Cali, what’s wrong with you? The other day you gave me a tongue lashing that knocked my boots off. I mean it was real sexy.” I rolled my eyes, and he continued to yap, “And now every time I say something to you, you ignore me.”

At that moment, I couldn’t help myself and I snapped at him. “Because, I said, everything that comes out of your mouth is asinine, and furthermore, you haven’t said but 3 words to me in the 3 years that you have known my brother and have been coming over to our house. “I so have talked to you more than 3 times in 3 years,” he said, with a dumb smile waiting for my response. I didn’t even bother to respond, rather, I took a sip of my drink and made my way inside. Why did I let him get under my skin!!!! Who did he think he was? He purposely was pushing my buttons any chance he got and I was letting him do so.

I handed Bailey her drink and danced with her and Drake. I was having so much fun and was feeling the effects of my rum and coke when suddenly I felt bumped by someone and it turned out to be Ivan. “Sorry,” he said, and I just smiled and kept dancing with Bailey and Drake. The dance floor got fuller and fuller and I felt Ivan get closer and closer to me. “Well,” said Ivan, with a huge smile, “You have no choice but to dance with me,” as he swung me around ignoring the girl next to him.

Was I dreaming? His brown hair had trickles of sweat in it that he just slicked back. Everyone was sweating though, and I could feel myself sweating too. He grabbed my waist and started moving with me. His eyes were blue and he was staring at me, or was that just the alcohol talking to me. I could see Bailey in the corner of one eye smirking at me with a grin from here to Texas. In the other corner of my eye I could see Caleb dancing with 2 girls rather close to me and Ivan. It felt like everyone that was outside was now inside on this dance floor. There was barely any space to move and now I could feel Ivan up against my body. He was holding me tightly with one hand, drink in the other, and I raised my glass to him and cheered him. We both were clearly buzzing and I enjoyed every minute of his chest up against my chest.

The music got even crazier and everyone was jumping up and down and now Caleb was somehow behind me. I could feel him brushing up against me but I didn’t dare turn around. Ivan was still holding on to me tight and he bent down to whisper in my ear. “Purple is your color Cali,” he said, and then he kissed me softly on my neck. I bit my lip and smiled, and pulled him tighter to me, but was interrupted by Caleb who tapped me on the shoulder. He bent down and whispered in my ear, “Do you think your brother would appreciate you being on top of Ivan like that?” I slightly turned to Caleb and hissed, “Do you think my brother would appreciate this?” And then I turned around and pressed my lips to Ivan’s which caught Ivan by surprise, but once he registered what was happening, he kissed me back.

God I loved the courage this rum and coke was giving me at this moment. I can’t believe I did that. It was such an awesome come back on my part to Caleb. I pulled away and Ivan smiled. As if on cue, Bailey grabbed my arm and said, “Hey lets go get some air.” I looked at Ivan and he said, “go ahead girls I need a drink anyway.” “Bailey, let’s go home I said. I am having fun but I am tired and I have to start working on my plan tomorrow. I don’t want to be hung-over.” “What plan,” she asked? “You will see.” I filled her in on my kiss with Ivan and the stuff with Caleb and we headed home.
