Chapter 17

What had just happened? Was I just played for a fool? So all those feelings that Caleb had expressed that he “so called” had for me was a lie? He was playing me all along so that he could take my virginity? I mean I know that he and I had a game going on between the two of us, but I thought that it was a mutual game of lust that we both felt for each other with true feelings  behind it. What was I thinking?  I wasn’t special! This was Caleb Benzy after all, the Adonis of my High School, and now soon to be Adonis of the local college that could get anyone and everyone. He played me! Damn Him!

I was so lost in thought that I didn’t see Skylar’s face peeking in. “Cali, did you not hear me? Pizza is here.” I am not hungry. “What do you mean you are not hungry? Get your ass down here! Remember, we are doing movie night.”

Ugh, I let out a frustrated sigh and got off my bed. I really was starving. “What’s gotten into you?" Nothing Skylar, it’s nothing. Lets go eat. I forced myself to go downstairs and face the music. I was not going to show any emotion towards Caleb. I would act like nothing happened period.

The wind was picking up outside and it was still storming. I could hear thunder now on top of the hard rain that was coming down. I was happy that Caleb’s back was turned towards me when I walked into the kitchen to grab some pizza so I didn’t have to look at him in the eyes. Those damn captivating eyes.

“Should we do old school Nightmare on Elm Street or Halloween tonight?” asked Skylar. With this scary weather, I don’t think so. “Aw, come on Cali, I will protect you,” said Caleb, smirking with a grin from here to China.

What the hell? Why was he talking to me? Shit head! I totally ignored Caleb and went and sat on the couch. Honestly I don’t care… You pick Skylar. “Well in that case I am going to put on Halloween.” Oh God! Haven’t you seen that 3o times? “No, actually 31 times,” said Skylar, laughing at me, and of course Caleb following suite. Whatever, I said, rolling my eyes.

Within 10 minutes of us scarfing down the pizza the lights started flickering. I was not usually squeamish, or did I buy into the cliché of watching a scary movie, and then coincidentally the lights start to flicker b.s., but it was the first time I could remember the weather ever being this bad.

“Woaaaaaah!” exclaimed Skylar. “I should go look for flash lights or something. It’s getting really nasty,” he said, as he drew the blinds. Don’t exaggerate, I said. Caleb spoke up, “your brother is not exaggerating, in case you didn’t notice, the electricity could go out at any moment.”  Thanks genius, I snarled.

Without a word Skylar got up and headed to the other side of the house, I am sure in search of flashlights. And of course Caleb wasted no time in opening his mouth. “You took it the wrong way Cali.” He quickly maneuvered his body on the floor towards me on the couch but never left the floor. My knees were dangling off the couch and he started to massage my right ankle as he continued.

“What I meant by the virginity stuff was that I want you all for myself. I know that you don’t want to commit yourself completely too just me, hence, why you are entertaining Jensen and me at the same time.” I cut him off right there. You make me sound like such a slut. “It is what it is, Cali.” I was starting to get mad. I was not a slut. Confused maybe, liking the attention yes, but it’s not like I was sleeping with either of them.

Look Caleb, and as soon as I said his name, we heard my brother coming back, and Caleb separated himself and practically hopped to the other side of the room.

“Found it,” said Skylar, as he handed a flashlight to Caleb and one to me. He resumed the movie and I don’t remember anything after that; I had fallen asleep. I sluggishly opened one eye to find myself wrapped in Caleb's arms in my bed. I looked over at my nightstand and found my phone for the time. 3:37 AM.
