I open the front door as my best friends make their way up the porch, whispering to one another.
"Hey!" I greet them as they walk in the house, taking off their shoes, knowing Mum would hit the roof if she knew they had their shoes on.
They all look at me and I can tell by the look on their faces something is wrong. As I lead them into my room Lauren comes to stand beside me and she links her arm through mine.
"Can you explain to me why all of you are here?" I whisper to her as we walk into my room.
Lauren looks at me with a guilty look on her face and she shuts my bedroom door softly. Lilly, Abby and Danica all sit on my bed while Lauren sits on the floor in front of them. I stand in front of them and cross my arms over my chest. What is going on?
"Well, is someone going to explain to me what the hell is going on?" I ask in a worried tone.
Lauren looks up at the girls and they look down at her.
"We might as well just say it." Abby whispers.
"Yeah, lets just get it out the way." Danica replies while crossing her legs.
"We can't just say it! Do you know how hurt she wil be when she finds out?" Lauren murmurs.
"Yeah but we can't not tell her, she has a right to know." Lilly then says with a frown.
Oh my god, this is getting ridiculous.
"Would you please stop talking amongst yourselves as if I'm not in the room? Just spit it out!" I say angrily.
They all look at me apologetically and Lauren takes a deep breath.
"Lilly, do you want to tell her, or should I?" she asks while turning to look up at Lilly.
"I'll do it." she says, sending a quick look at Lauren, before she continues. "Well, yesterday afternoon Mum and I went out to the shops and when we were there, I saw Nathan."
She saw Nathan? Is he Ok?
"Yeah, and?" I question, agitatedly.
Lilly bites her lip and all the girls stare up at me with what looks like fear crossed with remorse.
"He was there with Cassie and Erin."
I sigh and and shake my head, is that all? I thought they were going to tell me something horrible.
"Is that it? Really guys, I have no problem with him hanging out with his ex, I completely-
"Do not say that you trust him!" Lauren growls, interrupting me.
I look down at her in confusion and she looks away from me while Lilly walks up to me with a soft expression on her face.
"Ab, I'm so sorry, but I saw Cassie kiss Nathan, and he made no effort to stop her. It wasn't exactly a short kiss either." she says quietly, barely above a whisper.
Wait, wait, what? Nathan, he, he, he kissed Cassie? W-w why would he do that? I frown to myself and I try to search my brain for some explanation, some reason why Lilly would say that, why she would think it was Nathan.
"Ab?" Lilly questions softly.
"Are you sure it was him? I mean, it might not have been him, maybe just someone that looked like him." I say while staring into Lilly's eyes, almost pleading that she will say she was mistaken.
Lilly looks away from me and the slightest lump gets caught in my throat.
"Unfortunately I am positive that it was Nathan." she says, sounding apologetic.
