"Have you tried playing the piano again?" She got up and walked over to me with my blanket wrapped around her.
"No, not really."
"Why not?" She sat, next to me, on the bench.
"I don't have any inspiration anymore."
"Brandon, you played piano long before I lived here."
"Yes but before you lived with us, I just played the piano. I didn't have a reason, I just played. But then, you moved in. And I found my reason."
"Brandon-"
"You see it started from the way your eyes lit up when I played and went to the way you smiled then to the way you-you loved me.."
"I don't know what to say."
"You never do.. but that's why I love you."
"Where is all of this coming from?" She looked up at me, searching my face for some hint of emotion.
"Tell me. Tell me how you really feel." I looked her straight in the eyes.
"Brandon, I'm.. I-"
"Callie! Can you come down here?" I heard Lena call up the stairs.
She stood up and pretty much ran out of my room, leaving my blanket behind. I hit my head on the piano. There's no hope for us.
I put my shoes on and went down stairs, not saying a word to anyone. I opened the door when my mom walked over to me, "Where are you going?"
"I, um, I'm going out." And with that I slammed the door behind me. I heard her calling my name but I was already gone.
I starred at the ground as I walked to my car and bumped into someone. I looked up to see Wyatt, "Sorry dude. Hey, is Callie home?"
I didn't answer him and kept walking. I got into my car and just started driving.
Callie
"I have no idea what's gotten into him. First, he freaks out on Dr. Flicker and now this." Stef walked over to me, "Callie, has he told you if everything's alright?"
"No, actually, today was the first time we've talked in months."
She sighs then looks to Lena.
"Wait, why did he freak out on Dr. Flicker?"
Stef motions that they should talk in another room, then the doorbell rings.
"I'll get it." I stood up and walked over and opened the door.
"Hey Callie." Wyatt walks in and tries to hug me.
"Actually, Wyatt, this isn't a good time."
"Why? Is it Brandon? Because he just took off down the street, looking pissed."
"I'll just.. I'll talk to you later." He kissed me on the cheek then I closed the door.
I walked up the stairs and into Brandon's room. I looked around and sighed. I walked over to the pile of books that fell on the floor and saw a piece a music with my name on it. I picked it up and laid down on Brandon's bed, reading the song that he wrote for me.
Brandon
I sat at the park for about 2 hours just thinking. I need to get over Callie. If I keep acting like this, she'll tell moms and all hell will break loose.
"Hey stranger." I didn't need to look up to know who that was, "You look lonely, mind if I join you?" Talya's voice rang in my ears.
I mumbled something but she sat down anyways.
"What's wrong?" She looks over at me.
"Nothing."
"Brandon, you only come here when you're pissed off. Don't lie to me." There was a long silence, I was about I speak up when she asked, "Is it Callie?"
I cleared my throat, "Yeah."
She sighed, "I'm sorry things didn't work out with you two."
"You're not, though." I waited for her to say something, "You don't care about what happened between Callie and I."
"Brandon, I-"
"And I mean, why would you? I.. I cheated on you and I lied to you. Callie doesn't love me. She-She doesn't love me, she never did and she never will.." I felt tears well up in my eyes.
She put her hand on my back which made me flinch, "C'mon, let's get out of here."
We stood up and started walking to my car. Maybe Talya and I could get back together.. It'll get my mind off Callie. Maybe life can go back to normal.
We got into my car and she looked over at me as I started the car, "I really missed you, Brandon." She smiled at me.
"I missed you too." I drove out of the parking lot.
