J E N N I E
I'm Jennie Ruby Jane Kim, the student council president of Manoban University.
A few years ago, I was looking for a school. Not just any school—one that matched my standards but didn't drain my budget. I was standing outside the gates of Manoban University, debating whether it was even worth trying, when Mr. Manoban himself noticed me.
He asked what I was doing there. I told him the truth: I wanted a high‑level education, but I needed something realistic—something I could afford.
He looked at my student records. Then he smiled.
Instead of turning me away, he offered me a deal. I could study at Manoban University under his support, on one condition: I would become the student council president and enforce discipline across the campus.
He was honest with me. He said the position wasn't easy. No one lasted long. No one wanted it. The students were difficult, influential, and used to getting their way.
Then he added something that made me pause. His daughter, Lalisa Manoban—the very same student everyone feared—was technically running the school. The irony wasn't lost on him, or me: the heir to the school, the one with the power, was also the biggest headache inside it.
He trusted me enough to believe I could manage the students anyway—including her.
As he admitted he's been having trouble with her. Stubborn. Headstrong. Unwilling to follow rules.
I listened. I didn't comment.
I can assure Mr. Manoban that his daughter's attitude won't work on me. Not on my watch.
Just like yesterday—I kicked her where it counts because she earned it. If some pop song can turn a bad boy around for a weekend, I can make a bad girl behave... for a lifetime.
Anyways, I'm grateful to Mr. Manoban for the scholarship, and I can't afford to disappoint him. I'll do my job. I'll enforce the rules, even if it means dealing with Lalisa Manoban herself.
When it comes to living, I couldn't count on my own father—he's the reason I ran away from New Zealand. I brought what little savings I had and started over here, living like an ordinary student.
I even did a little research on Lisa. She's not just infamous in this city—her reputation stretches across the country, maybe even worldwide.
According to what I found, Lisa Manoban, daughter of Marco Manoban, has a notoriously bad attitude.
Somehow, it doesn't seem to hurt her family's business. I guess quality sells, regardless of behavior.
She's also... mysterious. So is her gang. It feels like there's always something hidden beneath the surface—not just her, but her father, her family... all of them.
And that's exactly why I can't underestimate her.
Everything about them is private.
But whatever. Instead of overthinking it, I decided to focus on my studies. We had a quiz later, and I still needed to review my notes. I wasn't here to get distracted—I wanted a future, a decent job, a normal life.
I was heading back to my classroom from the canteen when something felt... off.
I slowed down.
Someone was following me.
When I glanced over my shoulder, I spotted a familiar boy. The moment our eyes almost met, he abruptly turned to the bulletin board, pretending to read the announcements like his life depended on it.
Isn't he one of Lisa's friends?
Curiosity got the better of me.
I casually changed direction and slipped behind one of the large pillars lining the hallway. It was a perfect blind spot. From there, I watched.
