THE SILENT KILLER
CHAPTER NINETEEN.
They say, once a cheat, always a cheat. I've embraced my current life. I can't change a grown up and I've accepted my fate.
Don has been quite supportive for the last two months. He has been avoiding the topic of his supposed sister but I later come to learn is one of his clandes.
He has been showering me with gifts and money, something he thinks will keep me at Bay.
I haven't heard from Gab but I'm sure he won't dare harm me when he knows Don is my husband.
Of late, he has been tagging me along in most of his business trips out of the country. He has been asking me to accompany him to clubs too. He no longer cares about Gab.
I must say we are the perfect couple... At least that's how people see us.
Today, I'm accompanying him on a dinner date with some of his business associates.
He has been showing me off to his friends, most of who I've had some escapades with when I was in the streets.
Everytime I meet them, I pretend that we never met.
It's good for all of us.
The dinner goes on smoothly, with Don introducing me to most of them.
There's one lady in particular who looks at me sneeringly..
But I don't give a damn. Provided that I'm the madam.
She follows me to the washrooms only to make fun of my dress and heels.
She tells me to my face that my choice of dress is pathetic and Don can do better than just me.
I'm in a good mood and I'm avoiding creating a scene. I do my thing and snob her as she tries to stop me.
"Don doesn't love you..."
She shouts.
"I know..."
I reply with a smirk....
We have a cocktail party there after but I'm too tired to stay back.
Don seems relieved when I tell him I wanna go home.
Don instructs Drake to drop me home and make sure I'm safe.
I have a plan.
Don thinks I'm stupid.
Hell no! I'm not gonna allow him have his way.
Drake drives me home and when he assumes I'm sound asleep, he drives off.
I'm watching him through the bedroom window..
I know what I'm planning to do is risky but I've to do it. Don has been taking my silence for weakness, it's high time I showed him who the real madam is.
I throw a headscarf over my head and put on a Jen's trouser....
I change into flat shoes then exit the bungalow. I hail a cab and whisper directions to the driver.I take my position in the huge club where I can see whatever is happening without being noticed. It's the same club Don told me it's his and the patrons there seem friendly.
I order a soft drink and it doesn't take me long to notice Don.... My Don.... My husband in the company of three ladies.
One is doing a lap dance while the rest are busy caressing him, kissing him randomly.
The sight is nauseating.
I have an urgent urge to puke.
The lady who confronted me earlier today is kissing him and he seems to enjoy the kiss. He ain't making any efforts to resist.
I rise up from my seat and walk slowly to them, my hands in my jacket pockets.
Once I'm there, I clear my throat to catch their attention.
Don looks up and our eyes meet.
"Donna!"
He exclaims..
"What a surprise? I thought Drake dropped you home!"
"Surprise uh!"
I retort.
" So this is what you've been doing in my absence? No problem. Continue Don, you have my permission."He's startled by my calmness.
" Things are not how you see them Donna! Don't leave yet"
" So I should stay here and watch these sluts... Whores exploring a body which is supposedly mine uh?"
Calling his clandes sluts infuriates him.
" I won't tolerate any name calling Donna, see the pot calling the cattle black..."
" Hold it right there Don! If you no longer find me appealing at least give me my freedom. I'm sure there are men out there who are more than willing to have me! I'm going back home right now... If you find me there, call me stupid!"
But I'm not going down without a fight.
I grab miss know it all's fake hair and pull it from her big head. Her conrows aren't that neat but she can get embarrassed for all I care.
She's too embarrassed to fight back.
Don grabs me by my arm and as I'm trying too hard to entangle myself from his grip, I trip and fall.
Great mistake...
Don pins me down and he is seething with rage. His eyes have suddenly turned red and I immediately sense danger.
Let's just say, I receive a beating of my life until one of his bodyguards drags him away from me.
I can hear sirens from afar and I assume it's the police.
Darkness is suddenly overtaking my mind and then it hits me... I'm losing consiousness.
Fare thee well Donna....
