THE SILENT KILLER

CHAPTER 25.

I try to lift my head but it's too heavy. I'm lying on a bed, whereby the room is painted white. A man in white is hovering over me, probably performing some tests on my body.
"Oh madam, I'm glad you're awake!"

"Where am I? What am I doing here?"
I'm really confused.
" You are in the hospital madam. You fainted and your husband brought you here! You've been here for three hours!"
He's not the Greg I'm used to. He's a different doctor.
Just by the mention of the name husband, my mind goes back to how it all happened earlier today.
The reality hits home.
Don is a murderer.
He murdered Ashley.
I recall how I met a breathless woman in the guest room downstairs, lying on the floor motionless. However, she had no marks or blood. I conclude that Don just strangled her.. To him it might seem a minor issue but to me, it's something which will be plastered in my mind forever.
I'm sure I won't come out of this marriage with Don alive.
A cold chill rushes through my spine.
I grow some cold feet and before I get a panic attack, Don shows up in the room, and as I'm about to shout at him, he shoots me daggers and I become tongue tied, just like that.
"I'm glad you are awake honey. I missed you?!"
Disgusting.
Plain disgusting!
The doctor leaves, and I'm left with don and as he caresses my growing hair, he asks me how I'm feeling.
Soon the issue of the dead Ashley is forgotten but whatever Don tells me throws me off the cliff.
"Donna, I'm sorry but you will be staying in this hospital for long."

" Why Don? oh! I understand you don't want me back in your house uh?"
" How can I chase you away Donna, you are my wife. My only wife! Stop being naive."
He says that with allot of fear in his eyes.
I've never seen him like this before. I know there must be a serious issue.
" What's really is happening Don? You look sacred. Is there something you are hiding?"
I'm Abit curious this time. He calms me down when he realises that I'm becoming emotional.
"You have brain tumor Donna! You have been diagonised with  brain tumor!"
The words hit me hard, like a tornado!
I'm petrified!
I'm shocked!
"You must be kidding me Don! Please, this joke is Abit expensive. Tell me you are joking please... "
" I'm not... "
Before he finishes the sentence, the doc whom I learn he's Sphere  comes back and cuts him short.
"You need a surgery madam. An urgent surgery, Before the brain tumor eats your cells up!"

The doc looks serious but I'm not about to play this game with them.
" You guys Must be mistaken. I mean, how can that be possible? Just do another test doc, there must be mix up somewhere."

" And you think we haven't tried that severally thinking the machines were faulty?"
Don asks me.
The reality hits home.
I have brain tumor.
Don's presence makes me feel at home. I know I shouldn't be feeling like this around him, he's a murderer for Christ's sake!
All together, he makes me feel safe. Even of you plans to kill me one day, that will be my day.
I try to close my eyes and see if I can feel better.
When I finally wake up, he's on the bedside, carresing my head, trying to make me feel better.
Don is a man who has his own way of doing stuff. He knows where to hold me whenever I'm stressed. He always wins. He always does win!

The operation is smooth.
No complications.
I'm still in the ICU when I finally wake up. Don is still with me And he can't stop assuring me of his love.
I'm transferred to a private Ward and Don rarely leaves my side. He only leaves when going home to change or to bring me food.
Am I not lucky?
Two weeks later, I'm at home, with my Don, recuperating.
He has been helpful in my recovery process.
He can't stop proffessing  his unending love for me.
Let's see how long this will last...
