THE SILENT KILLER
CHAPTER 34
I've been in the coastal part of the country for the last three days.
All I do is wake up from the hotel room I checked into, freshen up, go to the hotel lobby to eat and then walk to the beach to relax.
I've been unable to forget about Don and I'm finding it hard to survive without him. However, I'm willing to give it a try. I'm not planning on going back to him any time soon.
I thank God because I finally have the freedom I so desired.
Money ain't a problem at the moment. I count myself among the richest ladies in the state.
I've already changed my phone number and bought another phone to avoid calls from Don.
I threw the old phone away to avoid being tracked.
The Don I know must have installed a tracker in my phone.
He ain't wiser than myself.
This particular day I'm so worked up and tired. I come from the beach, take the elevator up to my room, freshen up and dress up in a skater dress, purple in colour, a dress Don loved.
I redo my make up and tie my hair in a bun.
I put on black wedge shoes and head downstairs to the club.
My aim is to have dinner then order a bottle of wine and then call it a day.Once I'm done with the food, I walk to the club area and after sitting on a strategic position, I order a red dry wine, Don's favourite. He used to say it helps indigestion.
I fill the first glass and swallow it in a swift gulp.
The wine is slowly taking toll on me and I'm jungling between dancing and taking sips.
I'm careful enough not to dance with strangers because I always feel Don's eyes on me.
Though we are not together right now, I feel bad everytime I'm flirting with another man.
I still feel he owns me.
Whenever a guy spots me dancing and finds his way to the dance floor, I always go back to my seat.
Things aren't different today.
The wine is really taking toll on me and I throw all caution into air.
I start dancing with whoever is willing to dance with me.
As I'm busy grinding my ass on some guy's groin, another guy in suit comes over and whispers into my ears;
"My boss wants to talk to you."
"Get off my case already, tell your boss I'm not interested."
I whisper back.
" He has instructed me to drag you to him if you refuse to follow me."
" Tell me I'm not interested!"
I shout, feeling disgusted already.
The guy who was having fun of his lifetime is startled.
"Just follow him. His boss is a dangerous man and he doesn't take no for an answer!"
My dance partner tells me.
" I'm not interested!"
I shout once more.
The guy who has been send holds me by my arm and drags me outside, towards the parking.
I'm too drunk to resist.
As we approach the parking lot, I'm startled to see Gabriel leaning on a shining machine, grinning from ear to ear.
When notice him, I frown and almost spit on him immediately I'm pushed into his arms.
He takes me whole heartedly and forces a hug.
I'm so pissed off right now!"Are you stalking me Gabby?"
I ask him, feeling disgusted.
" Let's just say, you can run but you cannot Hide."
" Point of correction Gabriel or whatever you call yourself... I'm running from no one. If there's anyone who should be complaining, that person should be Don! He's the only one I take orders from! And the last time I checked, he had no problem with me having fun!"
I scoff at him. He's infuriated by my boldness. He opens the car door and before she shoves me inside, I hear him groan and his grip loosens then he let's go off me completely.
I'm relieved, St the same time shocked.
I turn back only to come face to face with the one and only Mighty Don West!
How did he know I was here?
How did he know how to find me?
I thought he had given up on me because it's been two weeks since I left his bungalow.
"Don!"
I exclaim, placing my hands on my mouth, completely shocked!
Gab's men are nowhere to be seen, Don's too.
Gab stands up, rubbing his neck with the palm of his hands.
The two men are facing each other and I'm afraid they are gonna harm each other.
"It's high time we squared this man to man, without our bodyguards. That way we shall know who the king is!"
Don growls, fishing his pistol from his jacket's inner pocket.
This catches Gab by surprise. He throws his hands in air, as a sign of surrender.
Don, who is taller than Gab is pointing the corked gun on his chest, threatening to tear his heart out.
"Don please stop this. We can talk this out. Remember the good old days. We were the best of buddies please let's not end this in blood bath!"
" See who's scared! Gabriel you are such a cry baby. Where were you planning to take my wife to?"
" I ..... Eh.... Mm... Wanted to..."
" Wanted to do what you son of a bitch? Bring her back to me?"
Don asks, circling the pistol on Gab's chest.
"I'm sorry Don, I will never touch her ever again!"
" I've been watching you closely Gabriel. I knew you were up to no good when I saw your men following Donna to this city. Funny thing is, I've been here all along and even my wife herself couldn't notice that!"
I'm so ashamed right now, hating myself for allowing that guy dance with me in such a shameful manner.
"Don, let him be. After all I'm not answerable to you. I don't even know why you followed me here!"
" Shut up Donna!"
He says, without soaring me even a glance.
" And you Gab, get into your cheap car and get the hell out of here before I tear out your black heart!"
Gab retreats slowly, as if reading Don's reaction.
He slowly opens his car door and as he starts the engine, Don warns him;
"If I ever see you near her again, you won't live to tell the story...."
As Gabriel drives off, I turn to face a furious Don whose eres are red with rage.
"And you, who was that man you were dancing with? If I haven't been here for the past two week, I would have believed you are whoring around. Thank God it's only today and I'm sure it's because of that wine. Who drinks a whole litre of red dry wine anyway?"
He's finally smiling.
"You don't have any right over me Don!"
I burst out.
" I sure have Donna. Remember we haven't divorced yet!"
The reality hits me.
I'm still legally married to him.
Never once did I think of divorcing him.
"Stop putting ideas into my mind Don. Divorce me already and let me enjoy my freedom murderer!"
I snort.
"In your dreams Donna, in your wildest dreams!"I throw him a hateful glance and take to my heels towards the club.
He grabs my arm and growls;
"You are coming with me Donna! Enough of the punishment! I miss you already! I'm even ashamed to admit that!"
" Let me go Don! I'm no longer interested in this marriage!"
" Hear me out Donna, I love you!"
His words catch me by surprise. Don has never told me boldly that he loves me.
I look around and we've attracted a small crowd.
"I have you Don!"
I shout at the top of my voice, attracting more attention.
" Don't let me do this Donna!"
" Do what Don? Do your worst!"
"I mean eh...uh...."
Don kneels down, grabbing my left leg. This catches me off guard I almost trip.
"Come back home my wife, I will never mistreat you ever again!"
Is this the same Don I know?
Has he died and reincarnated?
Who's this man?
I'm confused!
