"Hurry!", he laughed, pushing me through the door. I had been playing in the rain, stomping in the puddles.I didn't care that I was soaking wet anymore, partly because I was feeling so tipsy.
"Good thing I don't live as far away as you.", he mumbled, dropping his keys on the counter.
"Uh, wait here, I'll get you some clothes.", he noticed me awkwardly standing by the door, shivering.
He disappeared around the corner to another room. He hadn't bothered to turn the lights on, so I waited for him in the darkness.
His apartment was almost as small as mine. He had a living room, where I was now, a tiny kitchen and dining room, and I assumed the room he had gone into was were he slept.
I examined the room I was in. It was very spacious, not like the other rooms. But it was also very cluttered and dirty. A baby grand piano was smooshed in one corner, and a guitar was on the floor. Papers and pencils scattered all around the room and couch. The walls were covered in vinyl albums. Bob Marley's face covered a few of them. A few pictures of people that seemed to be relatives or friends hung on the wall too. From the looks of his apartment, one would assume this guy's into music, not movies.
I bent down to pick up one of the papers. I squinted, and saw that it was sheet music. The title read "Loving You is Easy", and underneath were lyrics and music notes.
We were lost in the middle
Like bottles in the ocean
But we found one another
Like the answer to my question
Like the words to a love song
Like a river to the red sea
Finding you was so hard,
But loving you is easy
"It used to just be a hobby", a freshly clothed Austin reappeared, "but they never went anywhere. They just sat here. But then I figured someone else could use them, and we needed the money, so I sold them."
He set down the stack of clothes on the couch, and grabbed the paper from me. He smiled down at the lyrics.
"Ya, this one paid for our little shopping trip.", he waved the paper.I bent down to get another.
"Say You're Just A Friend?", I looked up confused." What a copier Mahone!"
"No!", his cheeks burned," I do remixes and stuff too."
"Sure you do.", I teased.
"So your mystery job is ripping of Biz Markie?", I snorted.
He rolled his eyes, and looked back at the clothes on the couch.
"I got you some sweats and a shirt.", he rubbed the back of his neck.
"Thanks", I started pulling of my wet outfit.
"Woah, what are you doing?! Go to the bathroom!"
"Oh quit being a baby", I pulled my shirt back down and snatched the clothes. Granted, I probably wouldn't have done that if I was sober. But right now, I was the farthest thing from that. I suddenly remembered Dot and all the people Austin hooked up with at AA.
"Just because I'm drunk, doesn't mean you're getting any of this", I gestured to myself as I stumbled past him.He smirked.
"I swear im not.", he held up his hands, "And you're the one who almost started stripping, anyway.I see you, trying to make the first move."
