10.

My hands gripped the wheel, but I had absolutely no control.

9.

I slammed my foot on the brake to see if that would help the situation instead.

8.

In front of us, a car rear ended another, the collision making an ear splitting boom. I cringed at the thought of the passengers being crushed.

7.

More cars slammed into the walls with incredible furosity, more than likely, all of them with severe trauma and damage.

6.

The shaking of the Earth made me feel sick to my stomach. Even though it had only lasted seconds, the damage to my mind, physical body, and this bridge were iincomparable.

5.

Our car had stopped at an awkward angle, and suddenly, it all stopped. The shaking stopped, and everything seemed quiet, although it wasn't. The black of smoke infiltrated the daylight, diluting any clear view of the disasters ahead or behind us. Cries were all that came to my senses.

4.

I thought it was over, but of course, it can always get worse. Just as quick as it had gone, an aftershock struck. Afyershocks are always more ferocious, even in less time. My hand hung on to Austin's-really the first time I had acknowledged him in all this.

3.

Car alarms screeched, and windows shattered, spreading glass onto the pavement. Whether it was on purpose for people to escape their cars, or just the pressure and shaking- I don't know.

2.

Gravel and dirt fell onto our front windshield. The next moments were so terrifying, my whole body ached, and I'd rather be dead than watch. The ceiling above us was starting to crumble, meaning within a matter of seconds, we could easily be crushed and annihilated by the bridge. It was then that the actual part we were on started to crumble, and a portion of bridge ahead of us descended to the Bay. Along with it fell two or three cars, now forever lost in the sea.

1.

Our car started to tip over, and I realized the gravel beneath us was also cracking. A blood curdling yell escaped my lips, and I had no idea what to hang on to.We were going down, the sea now clearly visible from this inclination. I desperately wished it was going faster, that we were already forgotten 300 feet below the water. To suffer was much worse than immediate death.

Then, the walls above us collapsed, catching us just as we were about to disappear into nothingness. Chunks of beams and cement clunked on top of the chunk, and most of the entire right side of the car. The Ferrari was bent into a weird 60 degree angle, my side over the bay, Austin's piled with dirt. A creak was heard from above us, and the unstable structure gave us another nasty blow. A huge chunk fell only millimeters from hitting Austin in its descent down. It did end up smashing the glass, and getting his arm though. His right arm was stuck over the outside of the window, crushed and held captive by the boulder. Cruel as it sounds, I was thankful the crash of the wall was too loud for me to hear Austin's bones be smashed. I could see the horrific damage, though. Shards of glass were stuck in his flesh, and he immediately began to scream and gush blood. But there was nothing he could do. He would never be able to get free, and even if he could, you didn't have to be a doctor to know his arm would never be of use to him again. I couldn't help him, because in the midst of all this, our front windshield had cracked and half of it was gone. If I unbuckled my seatbelt to try and help him, there was a much greater chance I'd fall to my death, than somehow get to the back door and kick it open with my measly strength.
