Liam's POV:
My eyes scan the messy office for discarded pieces of paper and notes that I didn't have the time to mull over. There must be something missing. It has been three months, and every time I think I'm close to the truth, something pulls me back to scratch.
But they say, an arrow is pulled to the back until it's launched forward to the wanted destination. However, I feel like I've been aiming my research in the wrong direction whenever I feel about to figure this entire ordeal out.
I make an effort gathering the scattered papers onto the desk and start organizing them alphabetically.
I am unstable about the idea of curing Elisabeth. She has been getting worse with every session, even with the hypnotization. She allowed me to protrude her thoughts, and trusted me enough to expose herself, her fears, and her darkest thoughts.
The idea of Jules lingered in the deepest part of her subconscious. The problem was and still is, I can't find the bridge to build, to let that idea float back to her consciousness. Jules definitely doesn't want her to remember their surprise meeting when we newly got here, but I have to figure this out.
Swimming through Beth's thoughts, I realized that Amy had been having nightmares about being kidnapped a week before she had disappeared. They occurred every night, for seven days.
Nothing can bring nightmares that forebode a tragedy but the supernatural. And that means whoever took her, was a supernatural being.
Alex.
It's either him, or someone he was trying to protect.
The question is, why does he want her to run away from town? He had said there were black wingers after her, but they didn't show any sign of existence.
If he wants her to fail her mission and turn into a black winger, he could have done that a long time ago. But why now?
I tapped over my chin thinking this over. What turned Alex into a black winger? Failing his mission.
Who has he been following the most? Jules.
Going over to the sheriff's office to find the file on Evan Dawson was a big risk, but he took it in order to help her find Amy.
He's after two people.
Either Jules or Amy.
I look over my notes on Elisabeth's treatments and sessions and read over the third page.
He has cut the invisible cord between that memory and reality. Completely threw it to forgetfulness.
And now he's been absent for three months, and didn't even come back for another threat to-
Holy mother of God.
Jules's POV:
"Sam?" Beth calls again and this time, I find myself standing straight on my trembling feet.
"Your mom's here," I tell him my eyes widening.
My breathing has gotten way faster in the past few minutes, and it is not because of my previous position with Sam. It is the fact that all of my efforts to stay hidden and under the radar have gone to waste. I can't believe how stupid I was to agree on coming with Sam to his house. And to what? Make out.
