Always true to his word, a little over a week later, Jack was taking Alex somewhere special for his birthday. He'd been wracking his brain for something to do since the night he said it because he didn't exactly have any money to buy his boyfriend something that could be seen of as value to him but after a long night of pacing his room and tearing his brain apart thinking, Jack vaguely seemed to recall Alex mentioning liking the night and the stars once. And so it was decided, Jack was taking Alex out for a promised night of stargazing and sweet talk to make him feel special, just like he deserved.

"Alex?" Jack mewed, stepping into the elders chambers at just gone 11pm again. Said boy mumbled under his breath but Jack couldn't see him cuddled up under the covers so it only came as a little surprise when he felt warm breath on the back of his neck and a pair of welcoming arms wrap around his waist from behind. "Hey baby." Jack chuckled a little, relaxing into Alex's arms and leaning his head back so it was rested on his shoulder.

Alex smiled and turned his head a little so that his lips pressed gently to Jack's clean shaven cheek. "What are you doing here?" He questioned.

Jack span around, taking Alex's hips in his fingers and smiling softly at him, "well I promised I'd make your birthday up to you so I thought we could sneak out and maybe watch the stars for a little bit." He murmured, lips brushing along Alex's jawline softly.

A quiet annoyed sigh escaped Alex's pale lips which was completely out of character because he was seemingly perfectly content with Jack's lips assaulting his face right now. So, said boy boy pulled away and frowned at his boyfriend waiting for an answer. He got one eventually, "we can't Jack. What if we get caught? I can't live without you." He trailed off, biting his lip nervously and avoiding looking the younger in the eye.

Jack's hand caught his cheek and pulled his face up, "Come on Alex, we wont get caught. You know the castle grounds and guard rota better than anyone. I trust you, just get us to the forest and I'll do the rest." He kissed Alex's forehead and stood up, walking towards the door just knowing that Alex would follow and sure enough, 21 seconds later, Alex was shoving on a coat and linking his fingers through Jack's ready for their castle break.

After some skilled planning on Alex's part and a little magic on Jack's to turn the guards in the opposite direction, the two boys were sprinting through the forest giggling like mad men and having the time of their lives. "Jack! Jack wait, why are we going in here? You can't even see the stars and what if bandits see us."

"Hey don't worry it's not far enough into the forest for bandits but I was coming through here with Zack and Rian the other day and I found this clearing and it's perfect Alex." He buzzed, practically jumping on the spot at having the chance to spend the night stargazing with Alex. The prince let out a giggle and blindly followed Jack just that little bit further into the green abyss.

And when they came upon the clearing, Alex gasped; it was beautiful and the stars were perfectly visible. He gave out a long contented sigh as he joined Jack who was already laying on the floor with his hands behind his head. Alex rested his head on Jack's chest and smiled to himself as he attempted to spot his favourite constellations.

"So why were you up so late?" Jack voice his question after a few minutes, only then receiving a shrug from Alex. "Lex." He pushed, knowing something was wrong.

"Jay." Alex shot back his boyfriends nickname sarcastically in response causing him to sigh loudly. Truthfully he'd been having nightmares. They came in different forms and different shapes each night but would always end up with him dying in exactly the same way. He'd be stabbed, right through the left stomach and left to bleed out all over Jack's crying figure before he jolted up in bed, forehead breaking out in a sweat and heart beating rapidly. He's had similar ones about his brother a few months before his death only Tom would be the one to die which was why it petrified Alex so much because Tom's had come exactly true, so was that his fate? To die by a sword through his left stomach with Jack watching? He sure as hell hope not and didn't want to bother Jack with it because he'd sure as hell worry and try to wrap him up in cotton wool to keep him safe. So he shook it off snuggling a little closer to Jack using the excuse that he was warm and subconsciously gripping on a little tighter to Jack's t shirt, knuckles whitening in the process.
