"Hey Jack did you ever find who it was that poisoned Alex?" Lady Taylor asked, picking up her long dress so it didn't drag along the floor as she jogged to catch up with the prince's servant.

Alex had made a 'miraculous' recovery just the next day after Zack had given him that potion and was up and out training again the day after that. An investigation had been launched as to who it was the poisoned Alex in the first place but nothing further had been found out. The knights in the tournament had all checked out but Jack knew it had to have been one of them an he'd vowed to find them, even if it killed him. "Not yet, I think Peter's lost interest." He replied shrugging. In all honesty he was mad at the king got giving up because, hello, that was his son that almost died and if Jack had more power-social of course, not physical- he would have found the criminal himself.

Tay huffed, "that man is fucking useless." She linked her arm through Jack's, "I don't know how Alex puts up with him all the time, I mean, he treats me better than Alex and I'm not even his real daughter."

Jack was unsure what to say, he didn't know if it was insensitive to ask what happened to Taylor's parents and so he opted against it and simply nodded instead. Taylor sighed, "you're a good person Jack." She said, referring to Jack looking after Alex at his weakest moment, "I hope Alex doesn't treat you badly. I know what he can be like with his servants sometimes."

Jack frowned, Alex treated his servants badly? "How's that?" He questioned, a little perplexed.

"Oh just mistreats them sometimes, like, works them too hard and most can't take it and either end up getting ill or being forced to quit."

Jack's face fell, he couldn't picture that. Sure, Alex hadn't treated him overly well the first few weeks but recently, during his vulnerable state, Alex had been nothing but good and kind to Jack, telling him that he didn't need to clean his chambers or anything like that. And Jack didn't like to think of Alex as mean but it could hardly now be denied because that was coming from Taylor and she'd know best. "I don't think he means too, it's just he doesn't realise what hard work he really is." She smiled a little and rubbed Jack's arm. "Sorry," she giggled, "I'm sure this isn't filling you with delight."

Jack returned the smile and wondered what the hell he'd done to make the lady Taylor care about him so much. After all, he was only a servant and she was Royal. Well, either way, he'd clearly done something.

That something just happened to be making Alex happier than she could ever remember anyone else doing.

Jack pushed out of the wooden doors onto the castle courtyard. He was greeted by the wonderful sight of Alex, not in his amour for a change, swinging his sword effortlessly at the dummy in front of him. A few knights were out training with him, mirroring his action but none quite had the same smooth angling to the swing or the precision of the jab that Alex did. He had it to perfection. A light sweat lined his forehead and it was only 10am but the sun was out and shining down relentlessly on those outside.

Zack was out for the day, running an errand in the far villages but the work was hardly strenuous and he'd insisted Jack stay behind as he'd probably be bored out of his mind. Jack took the opportunity to walk the castle grounds while Alex was out training before getting back and doing his own work but upon seeing the prince, tight t shirt and muscles out, he got a little distracted from his walk and decided he'd enjoy the show for a while.

The change in Alex was miraculous. Nobody had really questioned how such a small potion had made such a big change but most were just glad to have him better again. He was the sole heir to the thrown and without him the kingdom would surely be overrun when Peter died.
